The Shimmering Rainbow
Cerruti 1881 Lumières d'Été is a fresh, rather unsweet fragrance. The high concentration of musk brings a very slight masculine note, which beautifully blends with the fruits and flowers. I can clearly smell bergamot, peach, and of course musk. It makes me think of sand between my toes, sunshine, the cool sea... but the EdT is not only fresh; it also radiates a creamy warmth.
There is no development of the fragrance; I can smell the top, heart, and base notes right after spraying. For an EdT, the scent lasts quite well, but it is not particularly room-filling. I have had it in my collection for a long time and don’t wear it very often, but I enjoy it in spring/summer and for sports.
I find the bottle well-designed; it shifts in the light with rainbow colors and the cap shimmers in mother-of-pearl.
This fragrance reminds me of Chanel Chance, although in a weaker concentration. In direct comparison, Chance is more delicate, a bit more complex, more "sophisticated," while the Cerruti EdT is sportier and more robust.
