From the Bargain Table to the VIP Lounge
After being so captivated by the classic Dali Femme, I was also intrigued by Itislove. Although I briefly tested it once and attentively read the other comments, I STILL bought it! It couldn't be helped, given the bargain price.

However, it almost ended up in the Souk. Because at first sniff, I wasn't convinced, and neither was I on the second and third. When I read "scratchy" in other comments, I usually get warned, as it often behaves similarly on my skin. And so Itislove (EDT) initially comes across that way for me: scratchy, rough, bitter, sour, unappealing. Not exactly graceful. Is this supposed to be love??? After the scratchiness faded a bit, it starts to bloom nicely in the heart note. Oh great, that's also not really my thing. Nevertheless, it has something that wouldn't let me go, and so it didn't end up in the Souk but back in my chest. From which I keep pulling it out again. So, today I tested it extensively once more. The same game, but as before, it's always the base that knocks me out. Because now Itislove shows its most beautiful side: not sweet, soft, only delicately floral, fresh, and wonderfully fragrant!

Itislove is quirky and has character; it's not a scent that tries to ingratiate itself. It doesn't pander, it shows you right from the first spray who’s in charge! It demands patience, takes a while to "warm up," and doesn't throw itself at everyone right away. But those who are patient will be rewarded in the base with a fantastic scent far from the mainstream that lasts a good four hours. For me, this is an absolute spring and summer fragrance, and I am already very curious to see how it will perform then.

And so Itislove now stands neither in the Souk nor in my chest, but already in the bathroom, the VIP lounge, where only my current personal fragrance stars are allowed to stay, and we are both now waiting together for spring.

Isitlove? Yes, indeed. Even if with a delay.

Here we have another clear case of: a different perception of the scent on my part after reading the comments and the fragrance pyramid.

So, what did I imagine? A warm, dark, spicy, purring scent. But for my nose, something else emerged here -- or perhaps it just smells different on me than I thought (I won't use the nasty term skin chemistry), or the perception is simply different.

Because what happened to me after spraying: initially a fresh, dry, bitter note with a subtle citrus quality, also somewhat sour. I suspect that the pomegranate plays a dominant role here, as I remember experiencing something similar with the pomegranate-heavy Bvlgari Omnia Coral. On the other hand, the top note also reminds me of Dali's Sea & Sun in Cadaques - that bitterness, that unpleasantness.

My expectation - and my wish, of course - was that it would continue to be spicy and dark, but also add some sweetness, softness, or at least warmth. Unfortunately, that's not the case. The scent remains consistently "hard" and somewhat cold on my skin, despite the spiciness. It is also not a spiciness à la Hermès, which always develops aromatically on me. Itislove is a rebellious fellow, very prickly and ungraceful. I don't perceive any smokiness either, which is a pity, as I really like smoky notes. The whole thing stays in the floral-woody-spicy realm with a bitter aftertaste. And cold. The base is softer, certainly, but remains predominantly woody. Vanilla can only be detected as a softening touch; it doesn't bring any sweetness.

Nevertheless: this is not a total failure. Because the scent "has something." Strangely enough, it leaves an alluring, hot-cold sillage that purrs and hisses at the same time. It doesn't overwhelm, but it is very present. I want to sniff myself. Mysterious. A tempting aura, also a bit ...dangerous. I think of the opaque femme fatales of late 40s film noirs. SHE enters the office of the small, failed detective, draws him in, and when she disappears on her sharp heels, she leaves behind her charismatic scent, her aura, which clouds HIS rational view of things. HE is already captivated by her.

Itislove is not a scent that particularly suits me. Sniffed directly on the skin, it is far too bitter, dry, sour for me. As if it were resisting conforming to MY skin because it senses that we don't match. But it will still have to accompany me from time to time. Its treacherous sillage suggests something that I am not, which the scent on the skin is not, but sometimes a masquerade is simply a lot of fun.

My God, in love again!
Itislove by Dali is one of three scents that I treated myself to in miniature from the turquoise giant. I bought them because the sweet lip-shaped bottles caught my eye, just like the affordable price. I thought, you can't go too wrong here; if I don't like the scents, I'll just give them away.

But no, they all get to stay in my collection, and each one has even gained a little extra (Bunker-Bunker)..

Itislove is an unusual scent, off the mainstream path. It is my favorite of the trio.

At the beginning, it is spicy-citrusy, dark with twinkling stars in it, like a clear night sky. I just had an association with Midnight Poison by Dior, like a lightning thought that crossed my mind.....

Pink pepper with grapefruit and pomegranate comes across wonderfully crisp and modern. Did you know that researchers have found that scents containing grapefruit can make you appear up to ten years younger??? Of course, you have to do more than just wear a little fragrance for that....:-))

In the heart, there are supposed to be flowers??? (According to the description Dougi…). I can't perceive them at all. I find Itislove not floral at all, rather dark-spicy-oriental, consistently a bit citrusy-smoky....

The base unfolds just to my taste. Balsamic-luxuriously creamy, and again the keyword of the day: D A R K. Still, I will definitely test this fragrance in the brighter season as well.

I could imagine that it could become an all-rounder and signature scent that you don't smell on every third woman around the corner and in the savings bank, um, I mean, at the workplace...

For Cigar Smokers
Itislove is admittedly not my biggest love among the Dalis, and I need to be in the right mood when I wear it.

Itislove starts as if a man with a thick Havana in the corner of his mouth and a mouth full of chewed, fresh, green peppercorns gives you a kiss. Smoky, dry, dark, peppery. This top note lasts a long time. The dandy with the cigar blows curls into the air.

The pepper note runs like a red or better yet green thread through the top, heart, and base notes. It temporarily hands over the scepter to citrus fruits in the heart note, giving Itislove a fleetingly sparkling quality.

Marlene Dietrich comes to mind, as she belts out one of her songs with a cigarillo in her mouth, dressed in a tailcoat and top hat. Bedroom gaze and smoky voice.

The woody smokiness holds strong until the end. Mildly tempered by a hint of vanilla, Itislove gains a touch of femininity, but just a touch.

This fragrance is dark, balsamic, spicy, melodramatic.

Addendum: So here I am, reading in the forum with my head resting in my hand. Itislove is still there on my wrist, blowing me a wonderful, soft breeze, aromatic and reconciling, even after over 12 hours. Dear Itislove, I haven’t worn you often, and today again because of a comment on Parfumo. I had judged you after 6 hours, as always when I wore you, since I didn’t smell you anymore. I’m ashamed! Not for grumps! But you do take your time for a love declaration! Still, I won’t change the comment! Shame on you, Dali! I don’t like being fooled!

It's boring. Love shouldn't feel like this. And it doesn't smell like this.
