Le Santal – Fig Gone Fancy

A ripe fig with creamy, milky tones resting on warm sandalwood. Instant spark. Le Santal is warm, smooth and a little sultry, with fig and sandalwood holding hands in perfect harmony. It gives me that “I want to eat you” vibe, but it cleverly refuses to fall into full-on gourmand territory. Too classy for that.

Where White on White flirts with the gourmand side, Le Santal keeps things balanced and refined. Fig is a note with many faces, and here the creamy, milky one takes the lead, boosted beautifully by sandalwood. Chef’s kiss.

It wears effortlessly on both men and women. The bottle though… that cap is giving me medieval weapon vibes. Thankfully, Louboutin throws in a plain travel cap so you can enjoy the juice without risking injury. But the juice really is gorgeous.

There it is... let me start at the beginning:

The Fétiche Collection certainly looks interesting, if only because of this special bottle. The fragrance notes were kept very minimalistic, so there were few clues as to what this fragrance might be... Fig milk and sandalwood... yes, in principle that could mean anything... but what is she now, Madame le Santal?

Freshly sprayed on, as always I describe my thought processes, I had quite a green note with a certain creaminess behind it. Immediately I thought to myself oh oh, that's close to white on white, a bit more tart... but no, that disappears very quickly
mh... what is that... uh that's a bit biting the sandalwood... oh what a pity... no wait...
This minimally screechy note is already gone again, all within a maximum of 5 minutes.
Now it gets a little quieter, you become a little scent... yes not scent-blind... rather scent-stunned.
But then... uuuh the drydown!
A very cuddly, beautiful, milky fig with a miiiiiinimal green color... and it's becoming more and more edible. I'm starting to want to eat figs! Yum!
What's in the drydown that's not listed? I smell a hint of vanilla and I think there's also a very soft amber...

I think this fragrance has actually turned out very well. The performance is not as bad as you might think at first. The sillage is ok, but of course it doesn't last forever and the longevity is actually quite good. On clothes, I personally have such a clean summer sensation.
One minus point in my opinion is the price, which I don't think is entirely justified.
Otherwise, if you want to spend that and were disappointed by Gris Charnel, as I was:
This is the sensual, beguiling but gentle fig I wanted!
