The dark (but gentler ) side of the elixir
A dark and shining bottle hides hides a potion inside: it's the dark side of Aromatics elixir. Maybe stronger? maybe deeper? maybe meant for the night' who knows? attracted by the container and by the name, I sprayed this scent on the mouillette and on my skin waiting to smell something really powerful...
...but what a surprise! The jus was very gentle, a little bitter, dominated by a quite biytter flowery accord with a touch of plum. Not at all the spiced bomb I was expecting! At my nose came, finally, the base notes: soft and warm, a good balanced resinous accord made of sweet myrrh and tonka bean.
The sillage and the longevity seem to be lighter in comparison with the historical Aromatics elixir, anyway, this pleasant scent can be worn in every season, expecially by night and everytime you want to feel sexy but Always with class and discreption. The price for a 100ml size is quite high (about 80€ ) , but if you're lucky you can find it on sale . If the classic elixir seemed too ladylike and heavy to me, reminding my aunt's historical scent, this is my cup of tea, although not so powerful. Lovely, this " dark side of the elixir"!

A great find for me at TJ Maxx. I think this could easily be worn by a man.
I had always wanted to try this but only saw it once at Duty-Free with no tester. Luckily, I saw it at TJ's for around $14 and grabbed it. Glad I did since it is a very intriguing scent. Much tamer than the original Aromatics Elixir (which I do like) and one I need to wear again soon with the cold weather.

The Sensors
Somehow the heat is getting to everyone.

My husband has a headache, the dog is unenthusiastic, and I'm bumping into furniture, distracted.
Even the alarm system is out of sorts.

I was having a cozy chat on the phone when an unpleasant beeping reached my ears, which I ignored, because something is always beeping in this overly electronic household.
But my husband jumps up from the sofa - exclaiming: The Sensors!
That's the trigger word for me, indicating either that intruders are in the house or the alarm system is malfunctioning.
Maybe it's just a programmed test alarm, like the ones we used to have in school.
In any case, my dear rushes to the control panel to avoid the shrill siren wailing.
Meanwhile, I retreat to my "quiet corner" with my phone call to avoid catching the unrest.

Aromatics in Black helps me with that, which I happen to spray on.
I really appreciate the original Aromatics and also Aromatics in White - but Black takes a beautiful direction of its own.
I can't detect any family resemblance, but that's not necessary.
Here, a nearly gourmand fragrance embraces my skin, deep, soft, and sensual.
Jasmine Sambac has this erotic aura, refined by Osmanthus.
A slightly smoky myrrh wafts above, and a delicate caramel note appears in the background.
Black radiates calm - yet awakens all the senses.
A sensory fragrance - which brings us back to the aforementioned key word.
Even my husband cools down in my "aura" - and the alarm system falls silent.

In Black has magical powers.

Shadows Ahead
When you wake up and somehow sensed it, but didn’t want to accept in your higher consciousness that the hot dream of summer is over.
As always, the morning sun streams through your window, brushing against tea-yellow walls, and your gaze wanders barefoot over shadows. Bright shadows and dark shadows and the mountains and valleys of your bedspread. It finds a hold on a rusty heart, above the ancient, worm-eaten doorframe. That then becomes a thousand and one exits for you.
Your hands could still caress, cradling a warm dream, the rough linen, delicately cool fabric folds. Get up!
See the plum-blue heather, summer-forgotten, still juicy blackberry vines. Over everything, quietly, floating white cobweb fragments have settled. What dreamlike struggle took place here.

Walk through the misty curtains of the allotment garden! Feathered asters, self-glowing coneflowers, delicately branched anemones in white nightgowns lean longingly against fences and do not awaken from the crunching of your steps. This is an old man’s dream of someone who once spoke libido, an Afro-Asian language. Ethiopia. Oh girl, how hot it was back then! Spade, now carefully stored under the eaves. You’ve known this word since yesterday.

On the other hand, you see dew-damp, metallic plums in the silvery grass. Their yellow, juicy sweet wounds reveal to you the last secret of their aroma. Take it home! Unfold it here, in the whistling kettle of your inner morning. You have forgotten its singing, be a guest at the court of the wren! The bed is still warm.
You left without breakfast. An early riser’s absolute asceticism. That you drink all this, thus coolness and clarity and freshness and gently warm radiation of the whispering autumn sun. Your freckles are the stars of the past night.

How beautifully you had arranged the branches, the Milky Way of the jasmine wheels carried you away so cosmically. I called and called.

But now eat and drink! Tea and toast and bittersweetness. Autumn is the memory of summer and in its presence you incense reverently the coming winter.

Valentine's Gag :D
So folks, good evening!

Today is Valentine's Day!
*wüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüüürggggg*

No no, don't get me wrong, I'm neither insensitive nor unromantic, nor anything else, but… well, I'm single and have been since the dawn of time or something, and you all know that, so what did you expect me to react like? :DD
“Events” like Valentine's Day can sometimes be a nightmare for some singles. I have nothing against lovers and such (even if they can be really damn annoying at times! :D)… but as a single, such things can be extremely annoying, especially when you see so many offers and advertisements with roses and hearts and chocolates and guys playing lutes (is it even a lute? Or more like a guitar? Quick check on Google and... nooooo, even Google has a Valentine's Day logo with lovey-dovey insects... and I must admit, it actually looks cute...) as well as everything else related to this crap. So please excuse me if I react a little bit irritated to this topic and just write *wüüüüüürg* :D

Therefore, today I won't describe a fragrance with *yuck* stuff in it, like roses or anything, but just some random scent. I wish I had a nerdy fragrance available, or something that doesn't smell like going out and flirting, to completely distract from the topic and not have to think about romantic stuff, but unfortunately, I'm still not in Germany and thus have a limited selection when it comes to fragrances. So today I'm turning to Aromatics in Black by Clinique and hoping that the scent is just a nice scent, without reminding me too much of romance. Luckily, the bottle is already black like my soul, mu ha ha ha ha :DD
*complain* *complain* *complain* I know it's always the same tune... so what??

*sigh*
Alright, I'll finally get to the scent,…

The Scent:
The scent starts with wonderful, fresh citrus notes. I smell lime as well as a bit of grapefruit and bergamot. Shortly after, these citrus notes blend with beautiful resins like myrrh and powdery and sweet scents like jasmine and tonka bean.
A little later, the citrus notes fade a bit, as they often do, and myrrh and especially jasmine become significantly stronger and are currently the main scent notes here. But the fragrance still appears fresh.
A bit later, the scent becomes even sweeter, in a nice, gentle way. The neroli with its lovely scent fits beautifully with this. Of course, the neroli also fades over time and recedes further into the background, but it can still be perceived now and then as a nice, fruity note. The scent itself fades at the end primarily with the main notes of jasmine, myrrh (or resins), and powdery notes. A very nice fragrance that you should definitely try!

The Sillage and Longevity:
The projection is quite good, so the scent can be lightly and extensively smelled for a (short) while without becoming too strong and overwhelming. However, I felt like it weakened a bit too quickly afterward. I would estimate the longevity at the typical eight to nine hours, although it is noticeably weaker in the last few hours.

The Bottle:
The bottle is oval-cylindrical and shiny black. On the front, the name of the fragrance is displayed in golden letters. The large cap is cylindrical and also black. A beautiful bottle.

So, I like this fragrance. It starts fresh and then becomes increasingly sweeter, but not really heavy, so it feels like an all-rounder to me, a scent suitable for any season. It is also olfactorily suitable for many occasions, whether during the day at work or in leisure time, or even in the evening when going out. Or even for Valentine's Day… *yuck* no no no, it is NOT suitable for that, he he he *sigh* ... but it must smell wonderful on a lady's skin, making it suitable for being indulged in.... argh :D
Anyway, I think you can't go wrong with such a lovely fragrance! So it's definitely worth a try!

So, that's it from me again… Hmmm,… to all those who can relate to this Valentine's Day, I wish you a nice day, or that you had a nice day, since I'm publishing this comment in the evening. All others who can relate to this day just as little will surely understand me and forgive my many *yucks* :D

Either way, I wish you a lovely evening :) Until next time.

Dark outside, but gentler than the classic elixir: a bitter fruity-flowery jus with a warm touch of resins art the base. Average sillage.

Fruity, plummy opening. Developes toffee like vanilla/tonka. Reminds vaguely Hypnotic Poison. Low in projection, sillage, and trail.

I smell dark fruits, very ripe ones, almost boozy. Nice but a bit too synthetic, alcohol-like. Doesn't project for too long. Poor longevity.

Black is nothing.
Lots of flowers, slightly sweet, packed in a great bottle.
Definitely better than the elixir.

Autumn walk, neroli-frosted fallen fruit. Hot osmanthus, jasmine-soap full bath. Tender, balsamic rescue at blood pressure 160/100.

Lush flowers & lots of sweetness with oriental vibes. Yet never overwhelming, but elegant & stylish, even a bit "fresh." Nothing dark. Great!

The wild, big sister of Jasmin Noir. Jasmine in generous amounts, slightly smoky. Stands out, is NOT for those who prefer subtlety. Just my style.

Spicy jasmine, woody base. Mediocre, powerful floriental. What's with the name? Neither Aromatics nor Black fits.

Noble autumn scent for autumn kids like me: dreamy myrrh, fine osmanthus & fluffy fruity plum behind - citrusy spritzed.
