Morning has broken (the 3.0 zen version of a great classic)

I tested just a few days ago this scent which was on sale at one of my favourite drugstores of my town.
Well, when I was a little girl I remember that there was a famous perfume having the same name but I never smelled it and I haven't any memory of that vintage version.
What I recently smelled is a fresh-green and quite "zen" fragrance, light and clean like the morning dew on the grass. Pleasant, refreshing, perfect in the hottest days and particularly soft to be worn at the office or in crowded places. It's the typical morning scent to wear with a light and White cotton shirt.
But i was too curious to know how it was the original formula and here's to you the pyramid:
Top Notes- Apricot, Bergamot, Spearmint, Peach, Tagetes
Heart Notes- Cyclamen, Jasmine, Lily, Lily-of-the-valley, Melon, Rose
Base Notes -Raspberry, Moss, Musk, Cedar
The main characters of the new formula are the green notes and a soft and light Jasmine not so intoxicating but only suggested.I didn't smell the sandalwood at the base.
You can remark that many notes were different and maybe the reason of this change is in the new taste of the 3rd millenium people.
On my skin the new version isn't so longlasting and the sillage is quite weak, although a light "scent of good" remains for about an hour or two. ù
"Morning has broken" sang Cat Stevens and if you want to smell the scent of a morning in the countryside you could spray this fragrance. But it's a quite evanescent pleasure....

Tropical wave!

Calyx is a tropical, refreshing green perfume.When I spray it I get all the exotic fruits that they are listed and the dry down is something else.The base notes are coming up.A green wave, refreshing and very classy for Springtime and summer nights.Not sweet on me.
If you enjoy green and fruity perfumes this is the one.

Oh, what a positive surprise!

Many thanks to Theresa for the sample of Calyx (2014) :-) Here it shows once again that the broad opinion of the Parfumo community doesn't necessarily reflect my feelings. To me, it smells really nice and fruity. It reminds me of that one shampoo... what was it called again... those moaning women in the shower in the commercials (that was quite disturbing as a child)... Exactly! Herbal Essences! At least one variety smelled like that, which my mother or sister once used (without any strange noises coming from the bathroom). The longevity is surprisingly good. Even after 12 hours, I can still smell a subtle fruitiness on my arm. The sillage is, especially at the beginning, successful.

The top note has a fruity and fresh shampoo scent with grapefruit, passion fruit, and slightly green nuances. The heart note remains tropical-fruity with floral and green aromas of freesias and jasmine blossoms. Even in the base, it smells fruity, green, and floral. Here I recognize iris and violet. Sandalwood adds a certain creaminess to the fragrance.

This is a really nice, fresh, fruity, and summery everyday scent. I like it!

Parfumo inspires me to test brands that I have previously avoided. For example, Clinique. This is probably because I immediately feel ill when I see a white coat. But one should not let prejudices guide them, as they say. Still, I wonder how on earth one comes up with a company name like Clinique. “Le thermomètre clinique” is a fever thermometer and “un tableau clinique” is a clinical picture, and in a “clinique de traumatologie,” damaged bodies are patched up. I dismount from my bike and cheerfully enter the most prestigious department store in the city. At the moment, there is nothing to patch up on me; I just feel like testing a new scent. The white-coated lady at the counter is young and pretty, has a nice smile, and shows no understanding of my difficulties with the company label. “Calyx is a wonderfully fresh scent,” she chirps, brushing aside my friendly remark, and spritzes a tiny amount on my wrist. “Right now, it’s on special offer, and you get a pocket spray for free.” I try to focus on Calyx. The first impression is as fresh as it is fleeting. “And on the second perfume from Clinique, you’ll get an additional forty percent off today,” the white-coated lady continues, dutifully reaching for another bottle, but then, seeing that I’m serious about sniffing, she puts it back in place, flustered. “It smells pleasant, but not at all like grapefruit,” I try to engage her in a discussion. “Yes, and then we also have leftover gift sets from Christmas at half price,” I get in response, “a real bargain.” I take a look in the nearest mirror. Do I look that shabby? Well, my styling could be better. Calyx, by the way, could too. The freshness is gone and makes way for a subtle sweetness. “I’ll think about it,” I say, and I mean it. After an hour, the scent hasn’t changed significantly. It is light, but still noticeable, sweet but not sticky, a tiny bit fresh, not a girly scent but with a virginal appeal. So much so that I simply can’t imagine it ever getting on my nerves. In the advertisement of the well-known perfume store with D, it says that Calyx is full of surprises, dynamic and invigorating, extremely fresh and zesty... Extremely fresh and zesty is true, but only for two minutes, and as for the surprises, the positive thing is, there are no bad ones either. “Thus, Calyx crystal clear and energetically underscores the attitude of every self-confident, independent woman full of zest for life,” I read on, lacking zest for life myself. According to the Duden, an attitude is a “consciously adopted (contrived) physical posture” or an “affecting gesture.” All I can say is: “Whoa!” Regardless of whether it’s a deliberately provoked insult for sales strategy (which brings us back to being ill and makes the white coats make sense) or simply a translation blunder: “You deserve better!” I say to the innocent Calyx on my wrist. However, I doubt it can still hear me. It has nearly completely evaporated.
