A clean peppery tart floral that falls short as a cocoa gourmand
Clinique My Happy’s Cocoa & Cashmere was regifted to me by my grandmother. I presume she did not like it, and I can understand why. “Cocoa and cashmere” as a description prepares me for a fragrance that is warm, sweet, and soft. I don’t believe it achieves this well. I’m really not a fan of the peppery note, and I think it smells too bright and synthetic and almost too… sour/tart, to live up to the name overall. The cocoa scent isn’t very strong either. It is more airy floral and vanilla than cocoa. The muskiness is gentle and the sweetness isn’t too sweet. There are far better gourmand fragrances out there in my opinion. If you do enjoy lighter clean/fresh fragrances, you might enjoy it more than me. That being said, I don’t think it’s a terrible fragrance, but I wouldn’t buy it for myself. Youthful but not immature. A cashmere sweater fresh out of the laundry, sure, but the powdery flower-scented detergent lingers, overpowering your cup of hot cocoa— and you spilled pepper in it somewhere along the way... Hey, I wanted to like it, and the price is fantastic, but I just can’t love it. Cocoa & Cashmere would function best as a daytime winter/early spring fragrance, suitable for work, leisure, or sports.
