Another hit of the CdG pebbles
Wonderoud, Wonderwood, Blue Santal are all brothers, with Floriental being their sister, each different enough to have in the collection. Blue Santal is carrying the same Javanol/Pashminol X Cashmeran = creamy diffusive sandalwood accord a la Molecule 04, topped with CdG signature black pepper and incense notes. The main difference happens on the very top, you get yet again the same cypress pine terpenic effect as in Wonderwood (lacking in Wonderoud) but dosed up with juniper berry, perhaps Atlas cedar with its strong, stinging, peppery, balsamic fir needle smell.

Nobody does peppery sandalwood incense better than CdG, and Blue Santal is no exception. Top fragrance at a reasonable price for what you get.

Evocative
There is a very specific smell to the air at our summer house. Whenever we arrive after a long long drive, I step out of the car and inhale deeply of the ancient pine forests of northern Wisconsin. The air is clean, green, cool, woody and full of life. CdG Blue Santal is this scent, bottled. I know it's hyped up as a sandalwood fragrance, but I hardly smell the sandalwood. I get rows and rows of hundred year old pine trees. I get the juniper bushes that my great grandmother planted in the yard back in the 1920s. I don't necessarily want to wear this, I like to save that smell for the actual event of BEING THERE. But it's so cool to find this and know that someone managed to bottle the experience.

Rain and Stationery
Of the blue series CdG fragrances, this is my favourite. It's the cleanest, the brightest. It's exceedingly fresh for a sandalwood. This is fresh rain in an evergreen forest just on the edge of a clean cosmopolitan city in your imagination. This is a fragrance to wear while stationery shopping. This is the promise of an empty notebook, the joy of putting ink in a fountain pen, the cool evening breeze in early autumn at the edge of the Pacific Ocean.

The absolute dream! Compliments guaranteed!
I may not be a super nose and can't "dissect" a perfume like some can. However, I can certainly judge that this dream scent is far too underrated and is clearly the best of the three newer fragrances from COMME DES GARCONS!

Right from the first spray, the connoisseur recognizes that it can only be Comme des Garcons - the scent starts strong and heavy with the typical incense note. It leaves a slightly peppery impression, surely amber and juniper berries contribute to an additional sweet note. To me, it feels both fresh and somehow mystical at the same time. In short: I love this "strangely icy and loving explosion".

BLUE SANTAL is constantly present, meaning it can be perceived for hours with every movement - for me, this is a very important aspect. What good is a scent that disappears after an hour? Unfortunately, there are plenty of those on the market.

I am very surprised by the poor ratings of this fragrance here - I absolutely cannot understand the reviews. BLUE SANTAL is the strongest and most impressive scent of the "blue series", Blue ENCENS is also brilliant and noteworthy; however, the much too weak Blue CEDRAT falls significantly short and is nothing more than a 1:1 copy of "L`Aquatonic" by Lancome.

So - anyone who wants to receive compliments for their fragrance should grab this one immediately. I will keep getting this scent again and again!

Neon. Blue
Neon blue glows at the core of the freshly cut log. Herb-sweet milk oozes out, spicy. A synthetic flicker brightens the room. Hours.
Like the neon sign across the street, shining into the window at night, sometimes buzzing and flickering. Provided you are in the right movie - Brooklyn, fire escape, broken blinds and all.

Definitely an invasion. Namely, the synthetic freshness. At first, there's a nice summery sandalwood, but then the chili ambrox hits the nose.

Juniper-spicy pine, chili lays half-heartedly as a hint over the artificial sandalwood, everything smells in harmony. Too much.

Sandalwood and a hint of juniper in the background. It has an interesting twist; whether you like it is another story.

Smells like a walk through the pine forest on a cool early spring morning: Lots of wood, a bit of resin, and both thumbs UP!!

What Wonderwood can do in the dark, this one achieves in daylight. Pinus contorta. Summer. 28 degrees. Pacific coast.

A quite underrated creamy sandalwood scent (Sandalore & Co.), with ethereal pine in the first hours. Lightly peppery. Good!

Cool scent! Mediterranean coniferous forest combined with a light aquatic note. Unfortunately, the longevity isn't great.
