Straightforward Carnation

A carnation soliflore, a "green" carnation, but beware, the heart is made of cloves - so you might experience a whiff of a "medicinal" smell here (cloves are still used as a herbal remedy by dentists in order to fight tooth-ache). The aroma is far too harsh for me! Staying-power is great, but the scent is not my favourite carnation soliflore. Fragonard's "Billet Doux" is cheaper and much softer.

Die and go to heaven

This is wonderful!
I was a bit sceptical to start with because carnations are not what I would call pretty flowery flowers.
They are quite cold and harsh by nature and known as cemetery offerings in France.
BUT...
Comme des Garcons have managed to create something fabulous. This surrounds you in a delicious cloud.
The rose in its supporting role, adds a soft rounded and almost sugary aspect to this magic potion and the cloves complement it with a spicy edge.
The three together work in perfect harmony and it ends up being the perfect carnation scent. A soliflore, only better.
It is quite linear, but has great projection and stays on all day.
I love it!

carnations & red hearts candies

At first I get a big dose of aldehydes. Then, carnations & red hearts candies. However, this is not a BPAL fragrance. Surprisingly, CdG carnation works. Listed as unisex, I think it's more femme than not.

One of my first niche purchases. Even after sampling tons of other niche fragrances, I'd have to say CdG Red 2 Carnation is one of the best niche fragrances for me - a unique, quality scent that's a highly personal choice.

Simple, but successful!

During my first test of Carnation, I was intrigued, but this CdG didn't really excite me. I suspect it was due to the season, as clove simply fits better in the colder months.

Last night, I had this scent from the red series sprayed on me again, and I was blown away. Even my partner was impressed and practically urged me to buy the fragrance.

For those who cannot stand the scent of clove, Carnation is completely unsuitable, as this fragrance is practically bursting with this spice.

At the beginning, the clove note is relatively sharp and then becomes softer and more floral, until a wonderful, slightly sweet clove-rose accord remains as the base. I find it pleasant that despite the intense spices, there is never a feeling of being in a spice rack.

Last night, I was approached positively about this scent three times (two of them were men). Even though I only had one spray on my wrist, Carnation outshone the fragrance I wore for going out last night. I think I don’t need to say more about the sillage, and the longevity is also very good.

Anyone looking for a multifaceted clove perfume may not be entirely happy with Carnation, as the scent concept is rather simple, but it is all the more successful.
