The Triathlete
She pulls a functional shirt over her one-piece and slips into comfortable jogging pants. In her clothes lingers a hint of her mother's laundry detergent. A tiny remnant of her perfume from the day before still clings to her neck. She loves Guerlain's Après L’Ondee and wore it again yesterday.
Today is the big day she has been training for so long. She wants to show everyone what she can do. She has checked her bike once more and oiled the chain. In the transition area, she knows what to do. Just don’t waste too much time and on to the next discipline.
First up is swimming. Now she stands on the starting block and mentally goes through the upcoming 750 meters once again. She knows the competition. Where can she best break away from the others so that she comes out of the water first? She takes a deep breath. The chlorinated swimming pool, the synthetic fabric of her one-piece. Familiar scents. Just like in so many training sessions.
The starting gun. She jumps into the water and takes off. Indeed, she manages to switch to the bike first. Even during the 20 kilometers on the circuit with its many sharp climbs, she can stay in front. While running, she has to mobilize all her strength once more. Her competitors are closing in. A neck-and-neck race. But in the end, she manages to run across the finish line with a lead of three seconds.
There, she slips back into her shirt. The scent of the laundry detergent mingles with her salty, sweaty skin, the sunscreen applied in the morning, and the smell of chlorine in her hair. She is happy. She did it.
This scent combines so many impressions for me, but I am always in the realm of sports. I smell freshly washed functional clothing and simultaneously think of a wet swimsuit after swimming. A bit of soap, a bit of sunscreen, a hint of powdery perfume, perhaps something slightly oily that could come from turmeric. Along with the scent of warm skin. Yes, that fits. A triathlete in competition. For me as an athlete, a wonderful image.
Due to the cashmeran in the base, although used quite moderately, it is not a candidate for purchase for me, but once again a very special scent from the French label. A bit cumbersome, a bit special, and so good.
Many thanks to Ergoproxy for the opportunity to test this.
