I Just Love You...
La Fille de l‘air is a very fine, fresh, very bright and radiant, slightly soapy floral scent that works best in shimmering heat, as it feels even more refreshing, almost floating.
I can understand the associations with 4711 due to the neroli note, but this composition here is much more elegant, floral, fluffy, and multi-layered than the well-known cologne, and it has nothing stale or piercing about it. The scent is simply perfectly balanced!
Why do I love it so much?
Of course, it has personal components again: A few years ago, my husband and I fulfilled a dream, and we drove with our VW bus and our then relatively small children all the way to Spain. We stayed at many campsites, but the most beautiful place for all of us was in Carcassonne. We had a wonderful time there together. I had wanted to visit the castle for a long time because I loved "The Lost Labyrinth" by Kate Mosse. Yes - and there, in those little souvenir shops, they of course sold fragrances from Grasse. My favorite scent was called "Chèvrefeuille," for me the epitome of a hot summer day in the south of France. I wore the scent all the time and fell in love with it. Unfortunately, I only got a small bottle of it, which soon ran out at home. Last year we were in Bordeaux, and again in shimmering heat, I discovered "La Fille de l‘Air," which immediately transported me back to Carcassonne.
This time I secured 100 ml right away and find the pale pink bottle beautiful and unusual; it feels like a sculpture or an exquisite piece of art in the hand. The scent has a great sillage and lasts several hours on me. I believe either you love such neroli scents (also similar: Néroli-Orchidée by L‘Occitane), or you hate them. For some, they smell like bathroom cleaner, for others fine and elegant. For me, they evoke longing. But only if they are as well made as the daughter or girl of the air!
