Colgate - Cotton Candy
I would like some cotton candy! Flavor "Colgate for Kids"! Thank you.
Okay, that sounds perverse. And somehow not good. Disgusting?
Well then:
But it is not, and it smells better than it sounds; after all, our associations are always subjective. You can see that constantly in the reviews here.
But how can the scent be adequately described so that - after reading - a real impression is formed about whether it might appeal to someone or be worth a test?
So let me try it this way:
The scent or the fragrance line with the silver bottles was actually launched for layering with other scents. These include:
Hyper Musc
Hyper Iris
Hyper Cuir
Hyper Oud
I personally do not know the others (yet).
However, the fragrances seem to be quite popular, not only as a base for other scents but also as a "solo" fragrance.
Of course, anyone expecting a room-filling powerhouse might be disappointed - although, in my opinion, the longevity and sillage are not bad, and I know fragrances that "perform" significantly less as a main scent.
After spraying, a minty note unfolds. The mint, which is listed in the top note, nonetheless remains present.
This somewhat reminds me of toothpaste. A bit (mint) in the direction of Geranium pour Monsieur, not quite as overdosed, but noticeable.
Mint can quickly become musty; it does not here. Just fresh, a little (very little!) artificial but otherwise quite nice…
The scent is sweet, due to the vanilla. Nice, pleasant, not too overpowering, and therefore suitable for summer (vanilla can become too much in warm weather). This brings a certain lasting sweetness.
The white (!) musk provides a certain fluffiness, hence perhaps the association with cotton candy.
The vanilla also has a slight touch of burnt sugar - not caramelized, even though that is actually the result, technically speaking, but olfactorily (okay, hard to explain).
More of a vanilla sweetness, with the lightness of powdery musk.
In the background, the fresh mintiness remains (is that a word? Neologism?), accompanying this sweet-fluffy scent.
Long-lasting - yes, it lasts for hours.
Not prominent, it can really be used for layering, also - as I think - for summery-citrusy scents - which become airier-sweet (not sticky).
Then after a while, the scent becomes more intimate, but therefore it can also be worn without hesitation at 25 degrees.
Just as well in spring or autumn.
In winter, it might be a bit thin for many here who prefer something stronger (I mean perfume, only perfume!), but for the average consumer in an open-plan office, it probably fits there too. Most noses here are already spoiled when it comes to dosage and strength, I notice that sometimes with others around me.
What is perceived as "strong" there, I personally (long since) do not find that intense.
Ultimately, the but:
Price-wise, it is too expensive.
I think so.
Is it unique? Yes! I know little that is comparable.
But 213,- euros RRP is way too much (in general, I just find that too expensive).
Means:
Better to see if you can "score" it at the souk, then you might get lucky.
But of course, everyone has to decide that for themselves...
Then I hope at least one can gain an impression..
