'Roses are red, my love ...'
The title of this review comes from an old Bobby Vinton song that I can't help remembering when I spray a rose fragrance. Indeed, when one talks of Roses the first color that comes to mind is Red ... Red for passion, Red for romance.

With thought provoking names like 'Black Magic', 'Crimson Glory' and 'Lasting Love', the hybrid Tea Rose holds sway as the most popular flower on Earth. Creed's offering unfortunately sparks very little 'red' passion in me but rather takes me on a journey into a softly scented country garden ... it's more pink and white ... but nevertheless a very pretty natural Rose.
There is a tea rose called Diana, Princess of Wales with frosty pink/cream flowers ... Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare leads my nose in this direction ... despite it ostensibly having been made for the wife of an American President :) … perhaps said wife aspired to Royalty!
When it comes to Tea Rose fragrances, there is very little difference between them in the multitude of what is available. As an exercise for the purpose of this review, I am wearing this Creed offering on one arm and vintage Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose on the other. Common accords between the two are Bergamot, Amber and of course Rose, but the addition of Sandalwood in PWTR renders the fragrance fuller and more 'complete' ... while the blatant 'Tea' note in FdTRB causes a dried out 'potpourri' feeling, producing a dated effect. A touch of Tuberose in the PW version brings a soft creaminess to the composition ... while the Creed comes across as fairly bitter. Both are ultimately linear Rose fragrances ... I do, however, find myself enjoying Tea Rose more than Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare. I'm probably biased as I wear PWTR a lot ...
Ultimately, it becomes a fiscal issue with the Creed being exponentially pricier and much harder to find. I really don't see the need to fork out big money when Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose does a brilliant job of being a Rose soliflore.

A great big thanks to Mia von Trost for including this Creed for me to try in a recent sample swap!! Vielen dank!!

Powerhouse Rose
With more longevity than its younger sister (Fleurs de Bulgare - Creed), FLEUR de THE ROSE BULGARE is a powerhouse rose fragrance that manages to bloom on your skin *without* turning to powder or candy, nor drying into an elderly woman potpourri of "no."

Breathtaking on clothes, on skin, in your hair, on your silk scarves. It projects and lasts without ever being offensive. Step into a car full of women heading off to "Ladies night," and everyone wants to know what you're wearing. Just absolutely breathtaking, true, and real.

The woman who wears FLEUR DE THE ROSE BULGARE is all woman, powerful and always authentic, real and honest, with wisdom and wit, but with a soft underside and kind heart. She tells it like it is, managing somehow not to offend anyone. She's someone you want on your team for life.

Fragrance amnesia
I liked this parfume. Easy to wear, fresh at the beginning, later very flowery, full of roses (what a surprise), but still an almost fragile scent.
Unfortunately this is not my cup of tea, Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare is too translucent for my taste and even after trying it again and again - no memories left about it in my mind, I can not recall anything from this scent. Did I write unfortunately? If I am thinking of my wallet, I believe it is rather fortune.

I love roses and I love rose fragrances
I have tried so hard to at least like this scent, but I just can't seem to do it.

A blooming rose is a revelation, and each one smells different. The white rose is bright and clear, with a hint of peaches; the yellow and orange rose is strong and juicy with an apricot aroma; the red rose is flattering, warm, and very erotic; and the pink or fuchsia rose has citrus notes with pear and honey.

A rose fragrance MUST convey something of this to be liked by me.

Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare starts off quite shrill and extravagant with a strong, earthy rose scent. I cannot detect bergamot or even citrus notes at any time, no matter how hard I try.

Gradually, tea joins in, and the combination of tea and rose becomes downright unpleasant: it smells like roses that have been past their prime for more than 3 days, and the tea has been steeped for the 5th time.

In the end, amber adds the final touch. There is no creaminess, no cozy rose scent, but rather a bitter rootiness mixed into the overripe rose and tea smell.

When I think back to my childhood, I remember my Aunt Agnes, nicknamed Nessl. She hated that nickname but would never have expressed it in her very refined way. She would just always say, "my name is Agnes." This aunt smelled like that. I liked her very much and feel melancholic when I smell this fragrance now, but that doesn't earn it any points with me.

I held out for 6 hours and "observed" the scent, but instead of getting better, it got worse and worse. Thank goodness it also got weaker.

I really wanted to give it a fair chance and sprayed it again 20 minutes ago, but the same pattern is emerging again. Sorry, but I can't hold out for another 6 hours; it has to go because it stings my nose and gives me a headache.

For all the lovers of this fragrance: I am very sorry, as I said I love roses and rose fragrances and own quite a few of them, but this scent turns into a disaster on my skin.

A Pink Rose on a May Morning
This perfume is over 100 years old, but no other rose fragrance feels as fresh, youthful, and uplifting to me as this one. (I’m so sorry for you, Florblanca, that it apparently doesn’t work on your skin; on mine, it’s a photorealistic rose, I would say pink, with the typical citrus top notes and, yes, a distinct note of green tea.) It smells as if I am outside in the garden on a sunny morning, holding my nose deep into the just-opened bloom of a rose, with a few dew drops still hanging on its petals. A breathtaking beauty.
Right after spraying, bergamot and citrus come through a bit harshly, but after just a few minutes, they fade into the background, and the rose unfolds, accompanied by green tea, and the rest of the scent progression is rather linear. I don’t get any earthiness, almost no amber; I wonder if some reviewers might have confused this perfume with Fleurs de Bulgarie from the same house, Creed, which is an elegant rose on a very solid amber base.
This perfume here should actually bear the name of the limited edition from Les Parfums de Rosine "Clair Matin," because that’s exactly the impression Fleur de The Rose Bulgare conveys: A radiant, clear summer morning. I’m wearing it today, on this sunny, still cool but already warming May morning, and as always, I feel young, carefree, and almost giggling with anticipation for the adventures this day will bring.
I love it so much that I bought a whole large bottle last spring, one of those huge 250 ml bottles. And - sorry, ladies - I actually don’t want to share it, but keep it all to myself. A lot is already missing!
Oh, by the way: Men seem to like it a lot too; this is one of the few perfumes from my collection that I often get approached about.
And one more P.S. I can also imagine this very well on a man. With jeans and a white shirt...

Exactly the order of the fragrance pyramid. ROSE, just like my "Mailove" in the garden.
Juicy-bitter like a blood orange in the rose bed! A noble play!

Smells absolutely natural like precious tea rose! As if you were wearing a fine dress made of rose petals on silk... Summery light!
