Great flanker!
I must admit that I always liked the original Viking (while everyone rushed to bash it). So, of course, I like this one too. However, this one is a lot better blended and has similar scene scent profile just more summer appropriate (as the original was a bit too heavy for warm months). I get the same mint impression from geranium and same deep spicy rose impression from pink pepper. The woods in the base a lot of smoother and lighter which might be a welcomed change if the original Viking was too harsh for you in the dry down. Give it a try, wear it on your skin (as you should with all Creeds) and even if you didn't like the original Viking, chances are you will come round and buy a full bottle of this!!! All Creeds are expensive and buying them is a matter of personal taste and budget. :)

Viking Cologne
My sample arrived yesterday morning and I have given this fragrance 1 full wearing. From the moment I sprayed this onto my skin, I was immediately reminded of Terre D’Hermes with the mandarin orange/vetiver combination but this is done in standard Creed fashion which results in a much more fresh summer-friendly alternative to TdH and IMO, better. This smells more vibrant and realistic albeit not original but this does seem to have more development than TdH as it transitions into Viking in the dry down. Smells fantastic and a lot more contemporary than the original Viking. Anybody who is considering purchasing TdH in the near future (and has some money lol), I recommend you give this a try before you pull the trigger. Projection and longevity are the same as Aventus Cologne to my nose but it’s hard to judge from a sample sprayer. Will last the work day, I’m sure.

A mature scent for all ages
First off, let’s shed our preconceived impressions of TDH and Viking and look at this fragrance for what it is.
It’s a crowd pleasing fresh peppery modern day fougere. Nothing is overpowering. There are no clashing notes, just a well blended fresh fougere.
The top is citrusy and peppery.
The mid is a well blended mix of geranium cedre and a bit of lavender, it makes for a fresh spicy soapy paper feel.
The base is lovely clean patchouli, sandalwood and a bit of woody “sour” vetiveryl with just a touch, and I mean a very light touch of coumarin to smoothe everything out.
Now that we’re done giving this a fair and honest review, let’s rip into the price.
It’s a no for me. I’m still hesitant to buy another bottle. Even at discount tester price, it’s still pretty steep.
Maybe if they made flacons, I’d buy it at discount price.
This is a great intro into fougeres for people with a more modern taste in fragrance, buy it at discount only.

A Beautifully Crafted Disappointment
Viking Cologne presents a compelling blend of classic charm and refreshing herbal notes, with a captivating vetiver presence. It stands apart from Terre D'Hermes, despite any comparisons. While I typically dismiss longevity complaints, Viking Cologne's performance is genuinely disappointing. Even with liberal application (around 10 sprays), it fades quickly, a significant drawback considering the price. Ironically, other Creed fragrances perform admirably on my skin. While the scent itself is beautifully crafted and a pleasure to wear, the fleeting nature makes it hard to justify the retail cost. If you can find it for under $150, it might be worth considering, but at full price, the poor longevity is a deal-breaker.

Excellent and massively underrated!
A grounding, almost therapeutic herbal citrus fougère that balances modern and classic elements perfectly. Beautifully bright opening and a woody/aromatic base that lingers for several hours.

Coincidentally, it was released at a time when Creed was under fire for recent (at the time, 2020-21) price hikes and reformations that lead to poor performance, hence the unfairly low rating. Like all Creeds, retail price is laughably high and none are deserving of it. However, for the $150 this can be had at discounters it is well worth it.

A slightly more refined Tommy Cologne not even close to worth the price when Tommy exists

Bought a decant... And this one is a huge NO for me.

Light and refreshing citruses, tempered by soft aromatic touches and grounded by a gentle woody base. Somewhat minimalistic but pleasant.

Bathroom cleaning supplies combined with good old allspice. Can't say much more except that it has really garbage performance. Creed failed

Fresh, crisp, and polished. This one is effortless confidence and perfect for the office when you want to smell sharp, not loud.

This is a really nice fresh, effervescent, mature but modern cologne style scent with extra. It's very nice. No old smelling lavender here.

While I can see some similarities to the original Viking, this version feels less barbershoppy and has a lighter overall feel.

Fresh, spicy, aromatic. Hints of fougère in the top, hints of Royal Oud's DNA mixed with Viking's. A lot lighter, but also more wearable.

Simple structure, a perfect signature, lavender and vetiver on everything. Good seal
