Girl of Now Shine Elie Saab 2018

Absolutely intoxicating scent that I never expected to love so much! I can’t stop smelling myself. The opening of sweet, warm pineapple just makes me happy. The roasted pistachio and vanilla keep the beauty going. The almond is so creamy and sweet. The scent stays with me for entire day. I feel beautiful when I wear it. A keeper for sure.

My my my.. If I didn't have an admitted sweet tooth for fragrances before, I certainly do now. This is a floral-gourmand lover's dream. A treat, especially for those who nostalgize about summery pleasures in the freezing chill of the winter. Girl of Now Shine is powerhouse floral-amber-gourmand with fruity-nutty interlay... A bitter almond laced vanillic elixir with its nutty and fruity facets highlighted that mentally conjures AND could even pass for an economical alternative to Poison Girl by Dior but the effect is different enough to warrant its own exploration due to the noticeable presence of pineapple.

Besides the pineapple & the addictive fruity tonality, the second most arresting aspect about it is the nectarous ylang ylang, bringing forward the floweriness into focus. There is a kinship, I feel, with Olympéa as well, minus its predominant and signature seal salt. It's not entirely edible and not tooth-achingly sweet either (although undoubtedly a delectable scent that never becomes too suffocating), which is a nice change of pace amidst current gourmand fragrances.

When it comes to the performance, Girl of Now has the mind-bendingly powerful DNA of the Mancera fragrances. Lasts through the day on the skin, even longer on clothes. As it approaches the dry-down, it transforms into a fruitchouli, maintaining that sensual touch and still warming the proceedings.

I love elie saab perfumes, this was a blind buy many years ago, and its just beautiful, I love the almond in here. When she dries down I gets wafts all day, sweet almond, and a touch of vanilla, she last all day, not sickly sweet either, a beautiful white floral, with almond and a touch of vanilla. I always avoided Girls of Now - suspecting it to be a girly scent.

I should have known better, as the Poison Girls - EdT and EdP surprised me with their mature statement.

Having been enlightened, I decided to try Girl of Now - Shine after all.

And here too, I am greeted by a rounded, mature fragrance that doesn’t make me feel like I’m dressed for "youthful" occasions.

I have long outgrown the little girl image - though I believe that "teenagers" might find this very feminine - not girlish - scent a bit overdressed.

Shine places me - in the boldest sense of the name - in a soft golden light - like candlelight reflecting in my eyes.
The scent is also wearable during the day - but its soft sweetness fits perfectly for the evening - whether going out elegantly or simply lounging comfortably on the sofa.

It conveys a calm intimacy that shuns loud places.
A fragrance for private togetherness - or for refined moments of solitude.

The pistachio has a musky spiciness paired with bright pineapple and clear pear - but is softened by enchanting ylang and creamy almond milk.
Orange blossom warms the scent - dusted with iris.
Shine is both creamy and powdery - topped with sweet vanilla.
The noble framework is provided by patchouli, offering a casually elegant finish.

Even my scent-critical husband feels drawn to Shine - and kindly mentions the word "feminine."
I agree with him on that.
There’s even a subtle hint of eroticism in the fragrance.

A gentle seducer that particularly suits us "big girls."

I first tried the scent of Elie Saab Girl of Now. However, it quickly became clear to me that it had too much almond; it smelled like marzipan, and I don't like that scent. Together in the composition with the pistachios, I find the fragrance quite strong around the nose. Then Girl of Now Shine came to the perfume stores, and I dared to compare the two scents once more. Personally, I find them quite similar, and yet the almond doesn't stand out to me as much as in the predecessor. But since I wasn't sure whether this fragrance direction was too strong for my nose, I just kept trying it on the tester in the perfume shop or on my wrist. When it was then available in a set, I took the plunge and did not regret it. :)
