More than the sum of its parts
I first smell honeyed roses, then aromas of carnation and peach play peek-a-boo as this wears... but then it all changes gloriously once again into pure beeswax candles in a stained glass filled cathedral.

Red Door feels like a secret weapon for me. Too many people dismiss it as "an old lady perfume" and their loss is my gain. You just need to know HOW to wear Red Door! Trust me that you only need one spray or two drops. No more, because this blooms immensely on the heat of skin. People think they don't like this because they've been around someone who went too heavily. But in the correct dosage, people will be shocked to hear that phenomenal honey comb floral gorgeousness radiating from your person is one they wrote off long ago. Give this one time to play and develop. The dry down will make your heart dance.

Nothing she loved more than Red Door
In the 90s, at 16 years old, I started dating my first boyfriend. Our relationship lasted a good seven years before our paths parted again.
My boyfriend was three years older than me, had an older sister, and very loving parents. With them, I learned what family is and how to live as a family. From the very beginning, I was warmly welcomed and, of course, invited to all family celebrations. And there were plenty: birthday parties, weddings, coffee & cake, dinner invitations - my boyfriend and I were always there. His mother was a wonderful woman - and when I write about her in the past tense, it's only because I have no contact with her anymore. However, I am sure she is still just as wonderful and warm-hearted today. My then future in-laws were quite ordinary people. My future mother-in-law was a trained cook, and you could tell, even though she didn't work in that profession. I enjoyed countless delicious dishes at her table, and I learned a lot from her. Looking back, she positively influenced my life in many ways. I learned from her how to fold socks neatly, that one should always have a small stock of food in the cupboard to whip up something delicious when unexpected guests arrive, that cooking is fun and easy, and that it's not a crime to use a recipe, how to set the table appealingly, fold napkins, and much, much more. As I said, she was a normal, down-to-earth woman - a lady of the old school. When an invitation or celebration was on the horizon, she would make herself particularly beautiful: makeup was applied, good jewelry was worn, and a very special perfume was put on: Red Door by Elizabeth Arden. She didn't have many perfume bottles in her bathroom, but her selection was very refined. Besides Red Door, she also liked to wear Organza on special occasions. I believe 5th Avenue and Kenzo's Flower had a spot with her - these were worn in everyday life. But nothing did she love more than Red Door. This scent suited her so wonderfully when she elegantly dressed in her stylish wool coat left the house with her husband, leaving a mega trail of Red Door behind her. Floral, sweet, elegant, Grand Dame, warm, opulent, generous, breathtaking - that is Red Door. And that was her. There was nothing dirty, nothing grimy, nothing wicked or erotic about her or this scent. It was and is simply timelessly elegant.
Whenever I happened to pass by this scent in the perfume shop, I would sniff it or spray a little on myself. Instantly, my heart would warm, and all the memories of this wonderful woman would come flooding back. I almost thought every time that she was standing next to me or would come around the corner any moment. I never thought about buying the scent because it was hers - and I had long found my own signature scent with Dolce & Gabbana (Red Cap).
Recently, I treated myself to a vintage miniature bottle - for very special occasions and in memory of a very special woman.

A bouquet of flowers and a punnet of peaches, it's beautiful and bittersweet, with a kind of forced cheerfulness. Vintage, feminine, strong.

A wonderful fairy scent. Perfect for those with a wasp waist, happily nibbling on the nectar cups of this world.

This is a striking, loud, spicy floral explosion that announces your arrival like a fanfare. More 80's than 90's. Quite intense.

The red door leads straight into vintage evening land. With opulent blooms, velvety, honey-sweet fruits + a big dose of retro spice.

Sensual, feminine, sweet, floral, a bit too little green for me, but a well-crafted scent that belongs to the classics. Great for wearing in winter.

The epitome of luxury, seduction, and elegance. I had this EDP which was even softer and more sensual than the EDT. RD is classy and sensual.

THE ultimate floral explosion! Strong, red, fruity. Not TOO sweet. Evening gown perfume for concerts and opera. More suited for cooler seasons. GOOD!

Not comparable to the current EDT, much spicier, creamier, deeper, less floral, more tuberose, honey, opulent.
