What is a Diva???
Originally, this term was reserved only for gods. In the 18th century, famous female singers were then adorned with this attribute - opera diva, a term we all know. By the early 1920s, the film diva was added, and with the designation diva, arrogance was also referred to in a gender-neutral way.
So what is a diva now? And what about Diva Rose? Well, in the case of the latter, the question is less relevant. The rose itself can be - at least the very special, very clear, firm, and beautifully shaped noble roses - referred to as a diva. I'm not really into divas, but I am into roses. So I didn't question whether I wanted this rose.
When I finally held it in my hands - yes, I admit, I have always liked the bottle, even with the original Diva, just not its content - I, of course, had to test the scent immediately. My surprised face probably spoke volumes, as my husband just smiled and said, "You were expecting something different, weren't you?"
Yes, I was. At least I didn't expect a scent twin of Ramón Monegal's L'Eau de Rose. While L'Eau de Rose has a bit more depth, meaning a slightly dirty base note, the scent similarity is striking.
Diva Rose is bright, clear like mountain water, green and unsweetened. And it is pink, just as pink as in the bottle, with this fine pink scent. Like a fresh summer morning when the dew still rests on the flowers and leaves, and the fragrance fullness of the blossoms has not yet fully developed.
The bottle seems a bit "overdressed" for the scent, as Ramón Monegal's bottle fits much better, but I can get along well with the content. Like L'Eau de Rose, Diva Rose is also a summer scent, just as light and fine, but very well lasting with a fine, yet noticeable sillage.
A nice surprise, this diva!
