Sugary citrus cocktail with no mint in sight
I'm a bit of an Escada apologist and one of those people who insist that not all of their summer editions smell exactly the same. Blame it on Tropical Punch and Sexy Graffiti, which were among my first designer perfumes as a teenager. The releases of recent years were a mixed bag for me. I love Sorbetto Rosso (not THAT recent, from 2018) and I also really enjoyed last year's Santorini Sunrise. Otherwise, meh. But I always try them.
This year's Brisa Cubana is not for me. It's very sweet and fruity, as one would expect from a summer Escada, but somehow it doesn't have the Escada DNA. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it smells like a fruity summer scent released by any other brand. I wonder if switching to a vegan formula, which they started to advertise this year, is the reason for the difference.
Notes-wise it's mainly a citrus scent to my nose, with vague hints of other fruit and lots of sugar. I was curious for the mint note, but I don't get it at all - actually there are lots of perfumes that don't even have mint in the list and smell more minty than this one. At least the color scheme of the bottle is a good fit for the scent, apart from that it doesn't match my expectations at all.
The lasting power is not great either, after a few hours the scent becomes very light and muddled.
So, this is another "meh". Not completely unpleasant, but not great at all, honestly a bit cheap smelling.
