Pure mandarin orange

I almost blind bought this but I'm happy I didn't. Instead I decided to try this on the back of my hand today, just a single spritz. For the first 6 hours of testing this all I got from this perfume was a pungent mandarin orange. I couldn't smell any of the other notes at all! Just pure mandarin orange on me.

It's so strong that even after a shower and ten hours passing by I still smell the mandarin orange on me. It has now been joined by the jasmine and pink pepper in the bottom stage. Thankfully the fragrance is a lot more balanced now.
The strong mandarin orange opening lasting for so long has honestly put me off this fragrance. Which is strange, because I usually love citrus scents. This was just too much.

Finally a nice Escada again!

Escada summer editions have been one of my first forays into the world of designer fragrances when I was a young teenager, so I will always have a soft spot for them. As they often smell quite similar, their olfactory DNA is very nostalgia-inducing to me. But I also think most of the newer releases can't keep up with the early/mid 2000s stuff. They tend to have nice, fruity openings and thin, sourish drydowns.

Santorini Sunrise is the first summer Escada since Sorbetto Rosso that I would consider wearing! The packaging is super cute, but I didn't expect much from the scent based on the notes and reviews. But I still sampled it many times over the summer, and what can I say... If you don't like Escada scents, if you want something innovative or a strong performer, it might bore you. But if you want that fresh, summery fruit cocktail vibe the brand is known for, do try it!

It smells undeniably Escada-like, this time with sweet citruses as the main notes. It doesn't remind me of sorbet like the notes list suggest, more of a sparkling, sugary lemonade. And it doesn't turn sour in the drydown! It stays sweet and a little creamy with shampoo-ish undertones. There is something in this that reminds me of coconut, even though none of the notes indicate it. The fruit notes stick to the base nicely.

I don't know if I really need this in my collection, but maybe I will get a bottle if I still think about it next summer. It's uplifting and fun.

I'll start this time by reiterating how much I hate jasmine fragrances and they are always hit or miss at Escada. I love Escada fragrances and am always inclined to get the new releases and was initially very skeptical when I discovered Jasmine, standing alone in the fragrance pyramid. I really thought for weeks about whether I should buy it or not and what can I say, I did.
And I was pleasantly surprised again. As with Miami Blossom - my absolute favorite in my collection - this fragrance has what it takes to make it into my top 3.

As soon as I opened the box, I was greeted by a gush of juicy, delicious, sweet mandarins that immediately whetted my appetite for more. The jasmine nestles in very gently and very lightly and the two harmonize beautifully together. I have a light, fruity freshness all the time that never loses its fruitiness and is delicately accompanied by flowers. Delicious! It should also be mentioned that the fragrance contains the classic Escada note.
It lasts maybe 3-4 hours on me. Sufficient for a shopping trip or eating ice cream in the ice cream parlor!
The first compliments weren't long in coming and I won't be making my Miami Blossom mistake again and will be buying a second bottle this time! I also find the bottle simple but very pretty again and otherwise there were no conspicuous features.
