On my first trip to Spain in 1985, traveling by train across Spain, one of my main destinations was Granada. I ended up staying there for two weeks. Besides the Alhambra, another place to visit was the Cathedral of Granada, the site where the only Spanish kings outside the Pantheon in Escorial lie in a marble tomb. Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon - the Catholic monarchs, under whose commission Columbus set sail for the New World.
It is a large tomb, much more opulent than the royal niches in the Pantheon of Escorial, and an important symbol for Granada. Isabella loved Granada very much and therefore chose this place for her tomb. Life-sized figures made of white marble adorn the lid, and even in death, Isabella and Ferdinand hold hands.
I thought of this visit when I sprayed Misiones - the missions. Just like Misiones, it smelled back then in the Cathedral of Granada. Everything had been cleaned with lemon cleaner that morning, and in a bowl, smoldering incense released its fragrance; the cathedral was prepared for the next mass.
Misiones starts immediately with a cool, fresh incense note, which is supported after a few minutes by an extremely delicate lemon note. The scent then remains like this for several hours. Incense fragrances are not really my thing, and I wouldn’t wear them, although I quite like this one due to its very cool and pure note. Especially this fine lemony aspect that beautifully complements the incense.
For incense lovers, this must be the El Dorado :-)))
