Nice gourmand - dough, citrus, nuts
The other release from the new Pearlescent Parfums brand from Daniel Gallagher is Baklava, inspired by the dessert from Western Asia made of filo dough, nuts, and honey. The perfume includes the core elements—dough, vanilla, honey, nuts (almond, pistachio)—along with some prominent, sharp fruits (bergamot, orange, cherry). It’s quite rich, a mix of density and the combined sweet and sharp blend of the vanilla/honey and fruit/nuts, respectively, yielding a gourmand that’s mostly indulgent yet does not feel wholly over-the-top, a fairly accurate blend that resembles similar citrus-laden creations like the orange-iced cookies that I recall growing up, and I suspect the perfume will stir similar connections in others that smell it.
Overall, it’s a very pleasing scent and particularly something I expect that gourmand fans (like myself) would be taken with, so I’d recommend trying it. As with Aquarose, the concentration of Baklava is extrait and is priced at $175 for 60ml, with a sample set of the two available from the Pearlescent website for $15.
