Sundays with Cherry-Marzipan Stollen on the Cuddle Couch
That moment when you walk into one of Munich's niche perfumeries in a group as part of a Parfumo meeting, and the staff recognizes most noses upon entry, knowing that today there’s hardly a chance against this crowd of fragrance experts. You can see the despair and resignation on some ladies' faces, yet they valiantly resist and try to help as much as they can. Relief comes when one or another Parfumo appears at the checkout with intentions to buy: They try to remember what is being purchased, to have at least a hint of a chance to make proper recommendations on the next visit:

At the checkout, I was greeted with joy:
"Wild Cherry! Your wife will be thrilled!"
"Nope, that's for me!" Cheshire cat grinning.
"You can't be serious, ... or?!"
Just that incredulous look was worth the reduced 60 euros to me.

I should mention that I tend to test fragrances rather chaotically. Sometimes by the color of the bottle, sometimes by brand, sometimes by the name of the perfume, whatever appeals to me. Somehow, I was in the mood for something fruity again. Wild Cherry is a great name; I love eating cherries, but I’m not at all sure if I want to smell like that. Moreover, neither the golden box nor the black-and-gold leopard-patterned bottle particularly appeals to me, as it always reminds me of Peggy Bundy's leggings. But, as so often, life primarily revolves around inner values.

And with the first spray, I immediately remember that I have tested this fragrance before. This scent is not easily forgotten, especially since the composition of the accords is not something you encounter often. At first, the cherries hit you hard. There’s not much nature involved. Everyone will evoke slightly different childhood memories; for me, it’s a super sugary mix of Hubba-Bubba cherry, Cool-Aid cherry, doughnuts filled with cherry jelly, Dr. Pepper cherry, and those good maraschino cherries from the ice cream parlor. It sounds anything but healthy, but it’s unreasonably delicious. Quickly, sickly sweet notes of all sorts of sugary delights paired with almond and vanilla follow. Thanks to the cherry, I quickly think of all sorts of treats from Italy, but the strongest image that sticks in my mind is that of a Dresden marzipan stollen, garnished on top with maraschino cherries and drizzled with the remaining syrup from the jar. And like many children prefer, the cherry unfortunately has to go first. Unfortunately, the fruity half-life is reached after a good hour. But almond, marzipan, and vanilla linger on and won’t let go for the rest of the day.

Yes, no, a masculine scent sounds and especially smells quite different. And I’m not sure how many women I would like to smell like this. Even on my wife, Wild Cherry is too much of a good thing for me. Not because it’s so wild, but because it’s just too sweet, as they like to say in the Alpine region. But on me, I like the scent. It wraps me softly, providing an absolute sense of well-being like an aromatherapy session.

It’s my weekend comfort scent, with which I snuggle deep into the corner of my couch with a good book, a pot of green tea, and a cozy blanket, blocking out everything else around me. With this scent, I belong entirely to myself for the rest of the day.

I shared this image with my friendly perfume saleswoman during my next visit to the perfumery; she sprayed the scent on herself, closed her eyes for a moment, then began to grin knowingly and said: "Yes, that is your scent!"

Well, Auntie, another liqueur?
The advice to let "Wild Cherry" rest a bit before enjoying this fruity creation up close should be heeded.
It’s not as simple as with red wine: "Wild Cherry" is right on the skin, and the first encounter is indeed a bit intense.
Immediately, I was reminded of that sweet, red chewing gum: I loved it! My mother, on the other hand, despaired at its scent!
As a schoolchild, I never understood how she could know that I had bought one again: I had already thrown it away. How did she do that? Could she see into the future?
This sweet gummy stuff must have been quite persistent, if not even overpowering!

After a not too short period of time, "Wild Cherry" develops into a very pleasant fragrance blend:
The little knobby black cherry still dominates, but the freshness of lemon and the gentler bergamot happily dance around a large basket of these ripe cherries.
Next, I encounter heliotrope: in terms of color, I prefer not to imagine this deep dark violet alongside the cherries.
Surprisingly, the previously fruity-fresh top note harmonizes well with this light vanilla-like scent.
Iris and jasmine, both not too bright and radiant this time, adapt very well here: neither flower pushes itself to the forefront.
Before a clear patchouli note emerges, I can perceive a hint of bitter almond.
Black cherries and bitter almonds actually belong together for me: now the pair is reunited.
Skillfully dosed musk and plenty of warm vanilla round off this fragrance composition expertly.
"Wild Cherry" is indeed a bit sweet; however, the fruity freshness gains a fine smoky, even slightly spicy note through bitter almond and patchouli.

"Wild Cherry" is also truly a rather long-lasting guest on my skin. Once it has developed its final "ripeness," it remains in this state for several hours.
Only later does it become finer; a spicy scent veil remains.

I am reminded of earlier, much earlier birthdays and holidays: after the coffee and tea pots were empty, the small glasses appeared on the table, and the hosts brought "the little liqueur" from the kitchen or the newly fashionable "home bar."
In my earliest memories, it was egg liqueur - sometimes even in those little dark chocolate cups; then "Cossack coffee" (which frothed when milk or cream was added) and later "E. Edelkirsch."
Especially the various aunts were never averse: "But please just a tiny little sip, my dears!"
Ah, the aunts!

Just recently, a friend brought me a bottle of this cherry liqueur. My grandmother's household was being dissolved, and some things from her kitchen ended up with me.
I hadn’t thought about it for a long time.
So it’s not so far-fetched that "Wild Cherry" reminds me of a glass of cherry liqueur, at the right time and in good company.

I wouldn’t use "Wild Cherry"; but I find it a lovely, because lively and entertaining variant on the grand stage of fruity fragrances.
This scent is by no means ordinary: it has something that sets it apart from the crowd!

Thank you, dear Angelliese, for letting me try this fragrance sample.
I have once again had an interesting fragrant experience.

Neighbor's Cherries
I experienced Wild Cherry a few months ago as a sample from a very dear perfume and was completely captivated. How delicious! How unobtrusive! How elegant! How subtly cherry-like! Since then, Wild Cherry has been for me the epitome of neighbor's cherries that I desperately wanted to taste. After I was able to successfully complete a sharing, the fragrance moved in with me - and since then I have not been able to get along with it. I have tried it on several days at different times. I just feel that the fragrance and I are not meant to be, so I probably don't need to let time pass.
Not that it isn't beautiful - no. It is very beautiful, still delicate, discreet, fine. Only the cherry is missing for me. Therefore, I am faced with a puzzle when I read about cherry-marzipan impressions here. I don't perceive any of that. It can't be my nose, as all the other fragrances remain unchanged. Here I smell a fresh opening, then a gentle creaminess that is also a bit powdery. An ideal scent for work, it seems to me, as it is not ready to settle down with me and simply smells pleasantly and unobtrusively of... yes, what does it smell like? Certainly not cherry. And not heliotrope. And therefore also not marzipan. For me, it is not nearly as sweet as it is for other users. Only at the end, after really many, many hours - because the longevity is very good - does a very nice sweetness emerge. But it is also not from the cherry, but vanilla. Now I have also been able to assign my impression; a look at the pyramid helped. It is patchouli that I perceive. Pleasant, but not exactly a cherry scent. Did I fill the entire cherry into the sharing atomizers and save the patchouli for myself??? Well, I can't get any further with that. I have to change my rating a bit now. I just don't understand it and will therefore leave it as it is. This is now the second cherry fragrance that I can't get along with - "Popped Cherry" was the first and also couldn't make me happy. Although I perceived a much clearer cherry there, there was no doubt from the first second that it was cherry - I just didn't like it very much; it seemed artificial to me. In "Wild Cherry," I don't feel any at all. What a shame, what a shame, and I really hope that my sharing participants like the fragrance more. Maybe I am cherry-blind? I have now decided to test my Guerlain bottle today. Then I have a sample of "Intense Cherry" from Montale. And then there is still Lost Cherry, which I don't know and don't have. If none of this works, I come to the realization that cherry and I, contrary to my expectations, do not match...

Top-Class Cherrybomb!
Since there is no comment on this perfume yet, I'll start.

Mancera Wild Cherry is, as the name suggests, a cherry-themed scent. As I am a big fan of fruity perfumes, it was clear to me that I would buy it.
First, I want to mention that the scent will certainly not appeal to everyone, or rather to very few. However, if you get to know it thoroughly and like it, you will love it after a few wearings! (that's how it was for me)

Scent:
Mancera Wild Cherry truly lives up to its name; it is very cherry-like, sweet, and sour, but also somewhat distinctive and at the same time mysterious, which is why it can also be considered a unisex scent.
The opening of the fragrance overwhelms most people because they don't give the scent time to rest or breathe. This is also the reason why it is perceived as too strong/heavy or unpleasant. Mancera is the daughter of the Montale house, and it is really not surprising that the fragrance shows its presence very strongly (those who have Montale scents know exactly what I mean).

In the drydown, the scent, in my opinion, differs quite a bit from the opening; it loses a large part of its sweetness after about 2 hours and becomes increasingly seductive and distinctive, which seems to please the ladies.

Personally, I have come to know and appreciate the scent as it performs extremely well on my skin and, strangely enough, is also very well received by the ladies. One compliment I received was from a lady about my age (24) who said the scent comes across very well and that despite the cherry and sweetness, it still feels masculine.

The sillage on my skin is truly exceptional!

Longevity:
The longevity is also truly exceptional on my skin, around 12 hours+ with just 2 - max. 3 sprays (3 is really the absolute maximum because it becomes too strong otherwise).

In my opinion, Mancera Wild Cherry is one of those typical perfumes that you like more and more over time.
If you really engage with the scent and give it time to unfold, you will notice that it is not just Hubba Bubba.

Alas, not for me. Everyone raves about the cherry and I'm not getting ANY cherry at all. To add insult to injury, this gives me a headache.

Cherry cake in my mouth.
The marzipan pig in me,
grunts happily to itself.
A heavy gourmand,
which sends blood sugar,
soaring up.

I expected cherry, but Wild Cherry smells more like cherry pits with a splash of cognac. Too bitter and wild for me.

WARNING! Lush Cherry Bath Bomb! Somewhat soapy-marzipan cherry. It's nice, but it doesn't suit me. Similarity to Guerlain LPRN.

A blend of LPRN & Lost Cherry, where the cherry/almond notes take the lead. Heliotrope & vanilla powerfully enhance without being overwhelming.
