My La Rive Blind Purchase
I hadn't paid any attention to La Rive fragrances until last week. Why? Honestly, I don't know. But last week, I found myself at the checkout of the orange M, and there were La Rive fragrances on display. Driven more by a sense of adventure and not least by the low price, I was tempted to make a blind purchase. At home, I unwrapped the bottle with rather low expectations and was first taken aback by a Wow-effect. For the price, it’s a bottle that doesn’t look cheap at all, decorated with a Swarovski crystal. So, I sprayed it on a tissue and cautiously took a sniff. The second Wow-effect hit me; I perceive a gentle, fresh peach scent with a slight floral support and just a hint of tartness from the blackcurrant. Now feeling quite brave, I sprayed it on my skin... Hmmmm, this lightly floral peach scent is very nice. After about 20 minutes, the fruity peach scent recedes to the background but is still noticeable, and I distinctly perceive the subtly mossy sandalwood and musk, which beautifully underline the floral note. The fragrance now becomes noticeably warmer and creamier; I would even describe it as a floral, yes, even somewhat sensual clean scent. This fragrance has something to offer. I notice it for about 4-5 hours, but for the price, I don't mind reapplying, especially since I don’t find the scent intrusive at all.
The creators of this La Rive fragrance seem to have a fine nose, and I find it very successful. Personally, I will wear it again in spring, as I prefer gourmand, sweeter scents in winter. But I can highly recommend this perfume for those on a budget. My conclusion: In my case, my blind purchase turned out to be a fine, sensual scent. And in the case of the La Rive brand, I will now take a closer look at other fragrances as well.
