Russian Rouge
Obviously the first thing one notices about the two malachites is the beautiful bottle. Don't be fooled: the cap is plastic so everything looks good but once you pick up the bottle, truth is revealed. The SA tried to convince me this is made of real malachite. Fat chance! The bottles are shiny and beautiful and will look great as a display item. I wish there was a little more contrast but nonetheless, the Russian malachite theme is fairly attractive.

Now that we got the bottle part out of the way, on to the fragrance: the opening is astounding. I did not expect to like this at all but the tuberose is spicy and full-bodied. There are woody facets that highlight the flowers beautifully and the whole thing is well-blended and smells expensive. I would have bought one but I am glad I did not because the lasting power and sillage are minimal on me, which is surprising. Usually the Armani Prives last a very long time, even on my skin, which is known for obliterating the strongest of perfumes.

All in all a great gift perfume for men and women. Nice theme, very well crafted fragrance. I would even recommend a blind buy of this despite the sillage problem because I think that's just me. The best part of this whole composition is the grand opening.

Embrace Love and Positivity
“Malachite stone is a copper carbonate mineral. Its first use was as a copper ore and was mined exclusively as a metal source. The green colour comes from copper which oxidizes in the air because the mineral forms near the surface of the Earth. It is found in caves and caves where the mineral has formed into a stalactite or has covered the surface of the ground. Occasionally, the malachite stone is found in crystalline form and is translucent in this form. The most typical mineral form is opaque and must be sanded and polished in the commonly known stone”. This is one of the many definitions I found when looking for malachite; they all refer to its green colour. So I wonder, does red malachite exist in nature, or is it just a commercial gimmick? Who knows? However, if this gorgeous gem, red in this case, intrigues you, read on to find out all about the smell and charm of Rouge Malachite.

Firstly, I was tempted by its fascinating red colour, the presence of tuberose, and the assumption that being part of the private collection; it should be a niche perfume not designed for the mass. So I ordered a decanter blindly, and I wore it last evening in late autumn; the sky was starry, the air a little humid, and the temperature was around 10 ° C. Rouge Malaki is a warm, sensual perfume, and I would also say very opulent and dull. The most dominant aspects are floral, sweet, then spicy and creamy, with a tad of powdery and woody shades. Freshly sprinkled, Rouge Malaki envelops me with hints of freshly ground pepper mixed with green and aromatic notes. I must bring my nose close to the skin to appreciate the savoury notes of pink pepper supported by an aromatic and herbal sage. Otherwise, the floral accord that makes up the fragrance’s heart prevails immediately. The spicy aspect lasts for a moment and then turns to sweeter, flowery, and sensual tones. The tuberose oozes quickly right after. I like how the sage mixes with the other top notes and gives a kind of herbaceousness that balances the sweetness.

The heart beats, indeed it pounds, like a last-minute challenge between two competitors who overtake the group and strive to reach the goal. The group comprises a bouquet of white and yellow flowers, jasmine and ylang-ylang, but in the lead, the sultry and modern tuberose, not too sharp, and the orange blossom challenge each other. I breathe sweet puffs of fleshy and creamy tuberose mixed with deep tones of citrus blossoms on my warm skin. These two notes come out clear and limpid, alternating up and down like on a swing, with a sturdy supporting base of indole jasmine and gooey ylang-ylang. You must be fond of tuberose, and orange blossom, as the nose uses them here with vitality and abundance.

It’s deep and resinous but not dark. The dry-down comes salty, woody, and gummy. The amber adds a bit of saltiness to the sweet concoction, while the cashmere rounds the edges with its creaminess. Not an ambroxan bomb, just the correct dose of saltiness. And then there is a soothing benzoin with its balmy notes, an ingredient that I am fond of and can get clear as in Coromandel Parfum l and Pi Eau de Toilette. Most of all, I get animal and mossy facets of the musk, which I guess comes from the cashmere wood or amber Xtreme molecule.

For me, Rouge Malachite is more for the colder seasons of fall and winter, although spring could be perfect. It suits better during the evening and night hours, so powerful that it might be offensive for a working day. A different take on the tuberose, not too aggressive, not overwhelming, and not headache-inducing, comes and goes during the entire lifetime. If I have to be honest, I get average or perhaps impressive projection in the first hours. However, it lasts less than expected, a few hours on my skin. But it is still alive and kicking on clothes the day after, and the tuberose is fixed on the textile.

I base the review on a decant I have owned since April 2021.

Perfection. No other words needed.
Perfection. No other words needed.

This perfume was the one that started my addiction, and opened my eyes to the world of fragrances. A woman, or should I say angel came through my registry at work and when I smelled her my world stopped. I had to see past my shy self and ask her «what in the world are you wearing?» Mind you, I am scandinavian, and to comment and ask people that sort of question is pretty personal, so I believe she was a bit shocked. She was in a hurry though, and all she told me was «Armani Privé! You should try it!» The first thing I did on my break was to google this magical Armani Privé, only to realise… WHICH ONE?????? And so my fragrance journey was ahead.

A year later I was finally able to get to a mall where they had all of them, and a very nice and helpful lady had to guide me, a clueless 20 year old who only knew that «eh, it was very flowery and intense». I smelled them all. I had been thinking about this perfume for almost a year, and was ready to buy it at an instant, but she didn’t let me. «I’ll spray this on you, and you walk with it for the rest of the day, and then you can come back later and buy it if it really is the right one.» Then she showed me fragrantica, my obsession started and i scoured out so many fragrance sites and forums and I have to admit I was, and still am a big stalker in chats and forums. And it was one of these chats that got me onto parfumo.

I still don’t know for certain if this is the actual one from all those years ago, but this is the one for me. My holy grail. People can say whatever they want about this one, but every special occasion, or if I feel particularly down this one solves it all, and is a symbol for me, that this addiction do have a uniting effect. Which is probably also why I wear this with such confidence and pride, and so it is my most complimented fragrance.

A dreamy tuberose
I adooooore the tuberose in here and the slight menthol-y note maybe from the clary sage?

I had Alien and would personally not compare these two. Yes, the profile is similar, but Rouge Malachite is so much creamier, more refined and wearable. So sexy! You will NOT get the same feel with Alien if you´re trying to go for something a little cheaper. I think the reformulations are what ruined Alien because I used to love it.

The smell of colour red - a love at first spray
In my humble opinion this is what the colour red would smell like, well, if it had a smell. It’s a very delicate, yet realistic tuberose and it almost doesn’t change at all throughout the wear being a warm, sweet, unmistakable scent from the beginning until the end. It smells very nostalgic to me, as it has a similar scent to a shea butter body lotion I had almost 15 years ago. It’s the perfect perfume for all seasons and it gets you loads of compliments even during the most powerful heatwaves in the summer. It does fill a room, but not in a “perfume” kind of way. It fills the room with vanilla sweetness and tuberose goodness. Subtly, warmly, in an unmistakable sweet way. Definitely Armani’s best and possibly the best perfume ever made, as I feel it’s a blessing to my nose whenever I smell it.

At first I thought it was too feminine, but after two years I came to like it. Alluring jasmine like Zhujiajiao town in Shanghai.

It's a warm, sensual perfume, as well as opulent and dull. Flowery and sweet are the dominant flavours with spicy, creamy, and powdery edges

The perfume has a lot of pink pepper and tuberose! These notes are evident throughout the performance (by the way, it lasts forever).

Nice but not must've for me. It has something screechy that I don't appreciate aside the fact it overlaps with TM Alien and BDK Wood Jasmin

One of my favourite scents, I just wish it was stronger on the tuberose. For me it’s quite a weak scent, but I love it nonetheless!

As a man, i will say, this stuff is utterly intoxicating. A creamy tuberose mixed with amber and musk. Lasts until tomorrow. 5 stars.
