Accidentally in Love
Edit after a new test on: 06.08.24:
I have two samples here, both labeled 2014. They smell a little different. Is the fragrance heat-sensitive or has it been stored longer? Smelled directly on the skin, just delicate orange blossom. On clothing and in the sillage still top! Very delicate, ethereal, fine, and sweet O-blossom. Not at all cloying or sharp.

I received a sample last year and tested the Petit Guerlain.
Nothing special but somehow it was light and quite unique. Like vanilla crescents and nuts wrapped in fresh baby diapers, lightly powdered and floral. It should never be too powdery for me, it makes me feel sick.
The floral note is probably the mimosa, although it is interpreted quite differently in this fragrance than I am used to and in perfect dosage. Still, it didn’t blow me away.

So I sprayed this sample a few times and the scent was quite... hard to grasp somehow. As soon as you spray it, it’s gone.

But then I made the mistake (which I no longer consider a mistake today) and forgot to hide the TZ back in the box. My little one loves my bottles; they are like forbidden sweets to her, and she saw it, seized the opportunity, and spilled (or poured??) the entire liquid (the stupid TZ had no tape) over her little cardigan. She had practiced opening it well.
What a heavenly scent the little cardigan exuded the following week! Even after a 30°C wash, it still smelled so enchanting. I can’t describe the scent better than I already have above. I have never smelled anything like this in my life. So much like perfume but yet not. Like no perfume I know. For me, one of the top 10 Guerlain fragrances. Why it was discontinued is a mystery to me. Not sharp at all, not stuffy.

A little warning: I would not call this a normal perfume at all. I even bet that it won’t appeal to many who always need a twist, something spectacular. So don’t expect anything overwhelmingly new. But if you like to smell good and want to feel like a fragrant two-week-old little head, you should test it.

If anyone can offer the old Petit Guerlain for exchange, please get in touch. I am so curious if it smells similar.

Susanne, 43, Mother
Susanne is sitting across from me at the scrubbed softwood table. She doesn't see me, as she is currently engaged in a lively conversation with a friend who could almost be her twin - less in her facial features than in her expressions, gestures, clothing, and the way she chooses her words. Here in the café, most women look like Susanne. Susanne is wearing a very slim-cut 250 Euro pair of jeans, paired with light Stuart Weitzman boots and a rabbit fur vest. Next to Susanne and her friend sits Nele-Marie, in a charming blue cardigan and a light striped shirt dress from Petit Bateau.

Susanne had Nele-Marie later in life. It just didn't fit before as a trademark attorney - but since she has Nele-Marie, she has discussed with her husband that she will only go to the office two days a week. Today is 'Me-Time': first she was with her personal trainer, and now she is here with her friend and her friend's son (Jan-Friedrich) to exchange thoughts on motherhood. 'Musically, we believe she is not yet fully tapping into her potential,' Susanne says just as she flicks an imaginary speck of dust off Nele-Marie's shoulder. 'But we have that on the agenda.'

Susanne is now a mother with body and soul. She had Nele-Marie's room painted a pale violet blue with biodegradable paint from a Flemish company, the furniture and Nele-Marie's rocking horse are vintage from Austria, but have been gently stripped and delicately whitewashed by a local carpenter. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when Susanne is at court or in the office, Nele-Marie is placed in a very nice international daycare. Unfortunately, the caregiver who spoke Mandarin is no longer there. However, Susanne and her husband had expected more from the French au pair girl.

Susanne hardly has any time for herself anymore, but she hardly complains about it. The personal trainer helps her maintain a size 36 reasonably well, but it has been weeks since Susanne last bought something for herself. However, recently, Nele-Marie's dad brought back something very pretty for 'his girls' from a meeting in Paris: a small perfume from Guerlain. It actually doesn't smell like much: the described ingredients are only perceivable at their very weakest volume, and more than a very fine, clean honey-skin accord is almost nonexistent. But Susanne likes it. And Nele-Marie certainly does too.

Conclusion: a honey-skin scent that is actually almost not one at all. But it's very nice.

The Unassuming Guerlain
A fragrance for children? Well, there is such a thing, even though I think that girls might be more interested in this than boys. When you think of children's fragrances, you immediately assume that they are not for us adults. Too cheaply made, too sugary sweet, lacking any depth, those are the opinions one might have, and when you look at most fragrances (especially franchise scents like those from various Disney movies or other cartoons or animated films), that's not entirely wrong.

But we are dealing with a Guerlain fragrance here, which even puts in some effort (for a children's scent) and delivers a quite decent fragrance that could be interesting not just for children.

The scent:
The scent is weak, as I hardly perceive anything right after spraying it, before gradually light green notes emerge, which also smell somewhat soft and powdery in the background. The green notes smell similar to when you break fresh twigs and sniff the plant juices.
Then the scent becomes a bit sweeter, as you can smell the honey. However, I have difficulty perceiving the neroli. The green notes become somewhat herbaceous over time.
A few minutes later, the honey becomes noticeably more intense, without overwhelming with its sweetness.
At first, I was unsure about the pistachio, but later you can somewhat smell this stone fruit. Otherwise, the scent remains sweet and powdery. Much later, when most of the fragrance notes have become significantly weaker, it occasionally comes across as baby powder.

The sillage and longevity:
“Hello? Are you there?” one might call out to the fragrance. Petit Guerlain has a very weak sillage that is hardly noticeable unless you really douse yourself in it, including your clothes and everything else lying around in the room (toys??).
The longevity can be indicated as a maximum of four hours, if at all.

The bottle:
This bottle from Guerlain also comes, like many fragrances from this manufacturer, in the famous and aesthetically pleasing bee bottles. So cylindrical vessels that rise dome-like at the top and are almost entirely adorned with bees. The cap is cylindrical at the bottom and spherical at the top, also beautifully decorated. The lower part of the cap is surrounded by a lovely fabric, which is either pink or pastel blue, just like the color of the label, which can also be either pink or blue.

Okay, the scent is typically good for Guerlain. Even though it occasionally reminds one of baby shampoos or powders, it could especially appeal to some ladies here, as it smells powdery and clean. However, the scent is more feminine than unisex, but this really makes no difference if you want to buy it for a child instead of wearing it yourself.

It is wearable in any season and can even be used as a room fragrance for a children's room, but I can imagine that the bottle could empty quickly, as the projection is really weak. So, if someone wants to wear it themselves, they can only enjoy it for themselves, as it will hardly be perceived by others.

It could be worth testing, as I believe it might especially appeal to the ladies here.

Greenish Little Flowers
Today I felt like testing some fragrances, and in search of the right candidate, I decided on a sample of Petit Guerlain.
After acquiring it here in the forum, I had only tested the scent briefly and filed it away in my mind under the category "not for me."

Right after spraying, I smell a distinctly green and slightly spicy note.
Shortly after, the honey reveals itself, though I only perceive its sweetness subtly in the background.
After about half an hour, the scent becomes green-floral-creamy-sweet and gives me a well-conceived rounded impression.

I find that Petit Guerlain does not change significantly. The scent simply becomes weaker, and after about two to three hours, a very pleasant soft-creamy trace remains on the skin.

I perceive Petit Guerlain as a pleasant and beautifully crafted light fragrance for women of all ages.
I cannot imagine it at all for children.

I’m in love. The opening reminds me of being outside and inhaling deeply next to a honeysuckle bush. Fresh, natural, sweet.

Anyone who doesn't consider this scent a children's fragrance will be making a mistake. Everything heavy has been deliberately avoided: light green-floral.

Fine powdery body lotion feeling - very, very close to the skin, subtle. And better than it comes across here!

My great-grandma used to spray me with it when I was a little kid - that's why I love it and now I have this expensive perfume obsession :D

I would wear this even without a pacifier! Instead of baby powder, it has a delicate orange blossom powderiness. Unfortunately, the price is quite steep...

Orange blossom...
sweet-creamy with green notes!
Great for spring-summer!
It's lacking excitement in the scent-
but nice to wear, the quiet one :)

Quite nice, a hint of fragrance. By the way, currently on sale at KaDeWe for €179. But I have neither small children nor won the lottery. Better that way.

Fresh, powdery orange blossom with green stems. Beautiful summer scent, but unfortunately very subtle sillage and longevity.

Flawless scent! Very delicate green notes, creamy powder.
So beautiful, but VERY fleeting, which I find quite disappointing for the price!
