Soapy floral woody
This is actually my favorite from the Merveilles series.

I love its airy, floral woodiness and its very light sexy soapiness. It's much more feminine, delicate and romantic than the other Merveilles and evidently so, much easier to wear year round. It's a woody floral water, light and sparkling but respectably lasting for an EDT (6-8 hours on me) despite its transparency and sheerness.

I can imagine a lovely young woman with honey golden hair, wearing this on a warm, sunny spring day. She's natural, feminine and a bit absent, lost in romantic contemplation, as she's walking past a florist shop on the way to her first date.

Eau Claire des Merveilles is very light, diaphanous and subtle, but nonetheless it bears the unique, remarkable character of the Hermes house. It's got loads of personality, but it will not flaunt it. It's quiet and dreamy, optimistic and intangible.

I suggest you also spray this in your hair when wearing it. It lasts much longer, leaves a gorgeous trail and it surrounds you in a fabulous scented cloud for a few hours.

A soft, floral skin-scent
If you like soft, woodsy and powdery fragrances, Eau Claire des Merveilles will most likely appeal to your tastes. It is perhaps one of the more subdued offerings from Hermes, but it's also one of my personal favourites.

It opens with a slightly tangy orange accord and a touch of soap, not unlike the original Eau des Merveilles. This initial introduction isn't so captivating, so I felt a little disappointed at first. Thankfully, as Eau Claire des Merveilles develops, it only gets better.

The heart is quite vanillary and warm with a touch of floral powderiness. It's not entirely unique, but it is different and very pleasing to my nose. I'll take a wild stab in the dark and say that I think the floral blend is made up of pink roses and lily of the valley.

The sillage is more like a whisper, it's barely noticeable yet somehow captivating in the way that it transforms itself into a skin scent. It's almost not a perfume, like something I would expect to smell from a lotion or a cosmetic item.

The drydown consists of white, dusty woods, creamy vanilla and a naughty hint of rich, syrupy amber. Despite Eau Claire des Merveilles being suggested for Spring and Summer, its ambery nature encourages me to recommend it for slightly chilly Autumn days as well. The longevity is relatively good also.

The Witch of Eastwick
As happens so often I didn't warm to it at first. It warmed on me. If you are reading this you probably know of the original Eau des Merveilles, which I venture to suggest, was a commercial success. Think Sweet almond biscuits laid out on a plaid beach blanket, calamine lotion, marram grass and slightly pithy orange segments. The nod to the parent perfume is there but there's a touch of 24 Fauborg in Eau Claire and it's Abercrombie and Fitch meets Fifth Avenue. You do have to be lavish with application to be rewarded with the floral beauty of Claire, which is a bit naughty considering the price tag, but the cleavage fumes are worth it. Claire will never cheapen your perfumed persona but there is a tincture of something bitter in the dry down, willowbark-ish, it's just a touch and it doesn't worry me. Something of a witches perfume?

Do you ever have days when, having bought a full bottle of something that you wished and waited for, that instead, inexplicably, you turn to one with quiet charm? Mama said 'be careful what you wish for'

All season favorite
I have now owned bottles of the original Eau de Merveilles, the Elixir version and this Claire version (it was a sample of Eau Claire that kicked off my love affair with the entire Merveilles series). I would bathe in this stuff if I could afford it! It's a balance of woods, florals, amber, vanilla... none of these individual accords dominate, they truly all work together to create a lovely, musky, warm, sweet woodsy "your skin but next level" fragrance. Have you ever seen someone and you can just tell they are both educated and wealthy because of their simplicity of dress and their elegant manner? That is the type of person this conjurs up for me. A next level version of myself. This is an aspirational scent for me.

She loves the heat
I have often read that this beauty reminds some of expensive soap but in my opinion this fragrance is in no way soapy.
Feminine but not sweet. The vanilla is dry and beautiful. Eau des Merveilles seems to be more popular but personally, it does not move me as much. This is a summer fragrance, it is a whisper in the cold but a cloud of prettiness in the heat.
Luminous, yes, it is.

An amazingly soft Ellena scent dream that has vanished into the vastness of the fragrance universe. What a shame.

A well-groomed everyday companion. A floral-vanilla Merveilles. The aldehydes give it a bubbly and fresh touch. Unfortunately discontinued!

On me, it's more powdery, slightly woody, with a very mild peppery note, rather than floral-fresh! Very subtle, polished, unobtrusive business scent.

Super soft, fluffy baby powder that melts on the skin. Lucid & fine yet surprisingly long-lasting.
