A Shower Of Flower Petals
Twice is a perfume approaching the threshold of thirty years, but it is still very modern, or perhaps it has been reformulated to be one. It belongs to the family of fresh, aquatic fragrances that taste like morning dew and are not brackish, with many redolent flowers and juicy fruits.
It welcomes me with a slightly boozy opening reminiscent of peach vodka. Still, instantly the alcohol component vanishes, giving way to a light, subtle, airy fragrance. I recognize the sparkling accents of aldehydes, the sweet fruity note of peach and fruit watery, the dewy facet of freesia, and the dominant bitter touch of poisonous lily of the valley. Bergamot is subdued and does not overpower the opening with overly sour or citrus notes. The beginning focuses on aldehydes, peaches, and freesia, and I can hear an aquatic accord. The lily-of-the-valley is the prevailing note.
There is a delicate, beautiful bouquet in the heart made of hypnotic and lovely cyclamen that takes me straightaway into a forest, grassy and sensual gardenia, a tinge of violet leaves, noticeable jasmine in a mix of flowers that always leaves its mark on the skin. The rose subdues, and the powdery iris rises later in the end. The middle stage is floral, unquestionably, with brilliant nightly jasmine blossoms.
Finally, Twice leaves a delicate trail, gentle as a whisper, with a woody base composed of creamy blondie sandalwood, warm and slightly salty amber, a clean musk, and powdery iris root. Now the dusty Florentine iris shines, not in a make-up twist, with a touch of honey, making the fragrance intense and irresistible.
It is not a cheap perfume although the price is very affordable, a bargain indeed! It is a harmonious encounter between fresh and citrus notes and a shower of flower petals. Its delicate, sweet, and light trail lasts for a long time but is not intrusive. It has a particular smell. It’s not too sweet, as I like it, and it’s not too penetrating either. The perfume does not last long with a superpower. It fades after a while but does not disappear, making it comfortable to wear even for many hours—a spring and summer daily fragrance, not offensive, ideal for leisure and office. Twice and Twice pour Homme Eau de Toilette are two brilliant discoveries, even in their most recent reformulation.
I base the review on a 100ml bottle I have owned since July 2022.
