Agarwood For Newbie
Iceberg is a designer brand I know very well and magically captured my heart with Iceberg Man. I've got a few items from the Eau de Iceberg 74 collection. I had Iceberg Eau de Toilette 74, and I have Eau de Iceberg 74 Amber and Eau de Iceberg 74 Oud. Despite a few other things available, those are the ones I like the most. I unite all the items in that collection for their delicacy, even if used in abundance. The flankers are relatively heavier than the OG and perform slightly better.
74 Oud is a glorious scent, classy, pleasant, and nearly discreet, that starts with a blast of boozy and spicy ginger, supported by a sweet green geranium and a watered-down oud. Initially, the woody medicinal resin is more prominent, but it fades as the scent grows. There is a riot of ginger, and if you separate it from the other notes, you will catch similarities with Blv pour Homme Eau de Toilette, another terrific ginger bomb. As luck would have it, the savory root fuses with green cardamom, which adds a tad of spiciness and impedes the ginger from being otherwise too pungent.
The heart releases a papery smell, with the scent of light-coated paper and ink from the weeklies. It is a perfect affinity. Oud is in weak evidence, however, always present in the background. It now fuses with cistus, saffron, ginger, and cardamom naturally. The paperlike nuance of the cypriol intertwines the leathery facet of the saffron, and the result is sublime. Dry paper and raw leather are two notes I like the most. There is a sweet geranium touch in the background that only makes this fragrance more pleasant.
The earthy patchouli hampers the oud accord in the dry-down and binds with the cypriol. So, dirty, earthy, and papery is the last trail that oozes from the skin. The aroma stays close to the skin, but I can catch some whiffs from my clothes when I move around.
Extremely vigorous, very attractive, classy, but not too elegant or demanding. It may take a few hours to get used to this type of smell if you are not familiar with oud, a faint oud, but you will end up loving it if you are or like what is very manly and rough yet cute. It's pretty fleeting, and it's gone on my skin in about half a day. I don't care if it has a limited shelf life, but it is a great deal to wear for the office, a short walk, or a casual hangout with friends for its price. Autumn and winter are the seasons I prefer for wearing this amber gem. It's worth a try, especially for the low price you can get it at nowadays. It had become my favorite mystery fragrance since the day when I knew I'd be wearing "M7 Oud Absolu | Yves Saint Laurent" in the evening. I need it to prepare for the ground, spirit, and mind to a giant beast that will accompany me throughout the night. Do not disregard my last word just because it is an Iceberg creation; it might surprise you pleasantly.
I base the review on a 100ml bottle I have owned since September 2018.
