what do pebbles by the sea actually smell like?
I love exploring the surroundings on the first day of my vacation and I actually prefer to walk around and let myself drift and see where I end up! That's vacation for me, walking around without any time pressure and just letting the impressions take effect on me.
That's exactly how I feel about Le Sel d'Issey! Because I often walk along the beach promenade on the first day. The scent of the sea that you haven't smelled for a while and the warm, hot stones or gravel that somehow contribute to the overall fragrance. And Le Sel d'Issey is like that too, it smells salty, slightly mineral (which I associate with stones or pebbles), but is also incredibly fresh, like coming straight from the shower.
Quentin Bisch has created a wonderful fragrance here at designer level that conveys the theme of vacation very well! Big respect for that.
I think the algae provide the freshness, the oakmoss the minerality, and the warmth and depth come from amber and incense. Simply superbly realized.
H/S are absolutely convincing for a designer who is really putting out feelers in the direction of the niche.
