Slow Start, Fine Finish...
Aura for Women opens with a light shampoo-like grapefruit and lychee driven accord before transitioning to its heart. As the composition enters its early heart the perfume turns fruity-floral, as sour, almost rotting raspberry fruit melds with peony and lily-of-the-valley light florals. During the late dry-down the composition turns musky and woody, as the fruity florals mostly vacate to reveal slightly sweet sandalwood and slightly animalic musk in the base, softened by supporting slightly powdery vanilla through the finish. Projection is excellent, as is longevity at around 12 hours on skin.

When first applied on skin Aura doesn't impress, as a weird relatively cheap smelling shampoo accord hits the wearer right off the bat. Things don't improve much directly afterwards, as the rather odd decaying fruity floral accord while not unpleasant still smells a bit "off." By this point I was convinced Aura for Women was going to be the sole perfume composed by the great Edouard Flechier that merited a pan, but then came the late dry-down to the rescue. It is rare that a perfume can be salvaged by the late dry-down when the rest disappoints, but Aura for Women is the exception, as Flechier skillfully uses a sandalwood and musk driven finish that smells quite good and also is distinctive enough to separate Aura for Women from its peers. The material quality of the perfume is generally poor, but Flechier makes the most of what was probably a very tight budget. The bottom line is the $11.50 per 75 ml bottle Aura for Women smells about as inexpensive as its relatively low price tag, but perfumer Flechier is far too talented not to work wonders even on a tight budget, yielding a "good" 3 stars out of 5 rated effort with a strong finish to counter its relatively poor start. This composition is only recommended to patient budget perfume seekers willing to wait hours for a payoff.

An Atmosphere Of Unreality And Mystery
Almost three years ago, I came across Jacomo Aura for Men. What caught my attention right off the bat, was the original bottle, an inverted U-shaped square plexiglass shield, which encases a green fluorescent, and opaque bottle. The overall result is gorgeous, very pleasant to see. Yet, only recently I found Aura for Woman online at a ridiculous price and ordered it blindly. Here we have a similar design. This time the bottle inside the shield is rounded and a bright sunny yellow colour. And the fragrance did not disappoint me, either. Just a tip. To appreciate Aura for Women, you have to appreciate the smell of wild flowers in all their forms and expressions, which I do. As soon as worn, Aura for Women makes me imagine a lazy and golden afternoon, spent reading the book of literature under a pergola of vines, crickets and cicadas that chirp in chorus in the scorching sun and the light whisper of the wind among the trees of the valley, all this cradles you in a quiet nap. The book flows gently from the chest, into the air, there is the sweet scent of a citrus grove and wild flowers not far away. I think Mr Edouard Fléchier did a marvellous job here.

At first, Aura for Women seems strong and complex, rich in fairly sour citrus fruits and carnal-looking flowers. The yellow grapefruit is thrown here with the bitter skin and the marrow, it smells like the sun-warmed fruit hanging from the tree, and it is not the sweet pulp of the pink grapefruit. Bergamot adds a touch of powderiness and tangerine lights up the complete citrus accord. Even the tuberose, perhaps mixed with the other blooms, white freesia and a pinch of lychee pulp mixed with sour blackberry, creates an aura that closely resembles the smell of hairspray. It is not the first time that tuberose-based scent has this effect on me, and I have already found it in other perfumes. Once that synthetic odour calms down, and the grapefruit and lychee stop struggling with each other, carnal and sensual tuberose reveals in all its beauty. Do not expect sensual and dominant tuberose as in Dior Tendre Poison, for instance, where Edouard Fléchier used it in a different dosage. In this initial stage, Aura’s got a bouquet of fruits and then the floral notes come out. They’re very delicate floral notes, slightly sweet, but overall fruity and a little artificial.

When I start feeling the wonderful heart, the perfume turns into a rich bouquet of multicoloured flowers, the tone of the lacquer disappears completely. There are many brooms, a golden yellow flower from a herbaceous plant that grows spontaneously in the Mediterranean countries and provides an odour reminiscent of orange blossom and grapes, dusty, somewhat leathery and neroli. Freesia is fresh and mimosa is chalky-sweet, while honeysuckle supports the scent with the sunbeam that characterizes it without being too honeyed or overbearing. Amid this riot of flowers, the sweet jasmine peeps out, does not dominate, but completes the floral bouquet. This intermediate stage I would describe as all floral.

Finally, the dry down turns out to be soft, clean, musky. The well-known sweet and enveloping notes of white musk have the best of those creamy sandalwood and vanilla gourmand. There is a powdery base given by the root of the iris, and that beautiful heliotrope note, which nicely rounds the overall base. And I know that much modern taste just rebels at heliotrope. To like this scent, you have to have an open mind and tolerate both change and tension. When the base comes out, it almost has a carnation quality. Interesting to observe here are the base notes, which are the same as Tender Poison.

Why is Aura not more popular? It is fresh, with clean musk, mimosa, greenish honeysuckle, and freesia goodness. It absolutely shines in the warm weather, once it dries down. With questionably too moderate longevity and sillage, the perfume fits well during spring and summer days, perhaps you have to reapply if you want all-day longevity. Not obnoxious or offensive. The fragrance is appropriate for office wear.  Give this one a chance, especially if you can pick it up as cheaply as I did. Aura for Women is unusual, tropical and sour to start, then floral and powdery. Elegant but not old-fashioned, and I like the bottle being so different too.

I base this review upon a 75 ml (2.4 fl. oz) I own since May 2020.

Too much mimosa
The bottle cheers me up! Looking like a warm, burning sun on a hot summer’s day makes me long for summer. I like the intriguing design with no stopper and the circle in the square. Really innovative!
Unfortunately, I have decided that I also need to like the fragrance to make it enter my forever collection, and there is something about Jacomo Aura that turns me off. I suppose it is the Mimosa note because it has never been my thing. It becomes somewhat cloying and overwhelming, a bit too sweet/earthy to my taste. In my other fragrances with Mimosa the note is dosed in just the right amount. But not here. My experience with Jacomo Aura is that when wearing on a hot day (as the bottle inspires me to do) I feel nauseous and unwell.
Too bad, Aura - you have to go.

Aura Clarification with Jacomo
My special tip against too much "bad vibrations"!
Clean your aura, Dora!
(Short comment):
Your aura, the energy field around you, is currently unable to properly absorb stress and negative vibrations and needs to be clarified?
Jacomo, the perfume company from Deauville in France, has produced a wonderful scent that will make you smile again.
Grapefruit in the top note makes it fresh and blows negative energies away!
Moreover, numerous scientific tests prove that the scent of grapefruit practically rejuvenates:
Men perceive women who smell of grapefruit as at least five years younger...- (but in my opinion, that’s not really an advantage, just a 'fun fact' that I didn’t want to leave unmentioned).
"Aura de J." was composed by Eduard Fléchier, the creator of "Poison", so by a top perfumer. And you can really tell that "Aura J." is the work of someone who didn’t just carelessly throw together a few molecules, but a master of his craft who has put real thought into it.
"Aura J." is a fruity, floral scent, but not a boring, conventional fruit salad - Fruityfloral! After the fresh opening with grapefruit, a charming, complex weave of mimosa and honeysuckle follows, two delicate flowers that gain a special, unique touch through sandalwood and heliotrope, as well as through musk.
Additionally, "Aura," as the color of the bottle clearly shows, is a bright, yellow, friendly scent with a creamy base. A silky, light veil surrounds you when you wear it.
Completely different, by the way, from "Silences," the bold, green classic of the brand, and also quite different from the much newer product by Thierry Mugler, which is also called "Aura" and I personally don’t like as much as the scent from Jacomo, which feels more harmonious and softer and less "chemical" than the green shimmering Mugler.
Anyone looking for an affordable, floral, really beautiful scent with a certain something should give the Aura fragrance from Deauville, which is still available in limited stock online, a chance.
(For fun, I just took an online test to determine the color of my own aura. The result will especially amuse Pollita: PURPLE.)

AUR(a)ORA - summer dawn
The fragrance starts with a harsh, scratchy top note, the origin of which is puzzling to me, but one should not be put off by it! After a few minutes, this is no longer perceptible, and a very harmonious interplay of summery flowers and a slightly citrusy note reveals itself. In my eyes (or rather, my nose :-) ) a very successful, beautiful, fresh, and very feminine spring and summer scent. Radiant like the summer dawn...

I find the futuristic design of the bottle very appealing. However, it is unfortunately quite unwieldy, and it takes some hand acrobatics to operate the sprayer. But who cares...
I simply find Aura wonderful!!!

Not an ordinary floral scent. The perfume has depth and is unique. The flowers here give off a dangerous vibe.

Bought blind on eBay. A super beautiful, affordable spring-summer scent for everyday wear. Plus, it’s not something you smell everywhere.
