Of smoky berries and peppery leather...
Now I will really let loose! A comment that can be read from my review of this "Red"...
Beautiful aromas sneak around, intertwining and overlapping. The beginning is rich and spicy, gently peppery, powerfully "currant-like," ripe, black, slightly tart. And juicy!
A subtle smoky note accompanies it. A little "inky," also somewhat myrrh-like and oriental.
Of course!!! How could I have overlooked it!? A birch tar note - also labeled as "leather," because this was traditionally tanned with the boiled sap of birches, giving off that typical scent. Floral notes delicately weave in between. Jasmine is only hinted at. Woods also play a role. Mossy trunks of coniferous trees. First suspicion: cedar. And "amber" - thick, sweetly woody, and balsamic resins. And always accompanied by the currants and gentle pepper. Clearly, also by the fine inky smokes. Dark patchouli is becoming more pronounced now, along with a bit of vetiver. From the depths, it beckons to me. This rather inexpensive fragrance has nothing "cheap" about it! It could easily cost four times more. Fortunately, it does not.
And it’s somehow a mystery to me why not more "noses" appreciate it. Everything is present that makes a quality perfume :-))
