The last two fragrances I tested and commented on happened to have a strong relation to oriental culture. And because all good things come in threes, I will continue with the topic and introduce Arabian Nights by Jesus del Pozo.
I still associate that brand with Quasar and Halloween Man, the latter of which is now marketed under the "Halloween" label.
Accordingly, at Arabian Nights I had completely different ideas, somehow something towards oriental sweetness with a focus on saffron and was really surprised at what I was sniffing at while spraying on.
In the beginning, one definitely hears more rose than thyme from the top note. This is even so formative that it is considered to be one of the main components of the Arabian night. But already very close on her heels follows her dark, strong guaiac wood as well as quite dense sandalwood with a soft core of saffron. At the same time, the absolutely soft oud solidifies like a monolith in the vast center of creation. Everything else turns out to be a minimal ornament, which may have been necessary, but is hardly noticeable due to the weighting.
Out the back the warm but by no means pompous Arabian night dawns in the smooth wooden robe, a little brighter and airier.
Ergo Arabian Nights is a classic oud fragrance with rosy and woody components - just as you've come to feel every second EdP with agarwood is familiar with it. And strangely enough I didn't expect it, even if the pyramid shows exactly that. So you can be wrong, which does not make the fragrance more original but definitely not worse.
