Good night
The last two fragrances I tested and commented on happened to have a strong relation to oriental culture. And because all good things come in threes, I will continue with the topic and introduce Arabian Nights by Jesus del Pozo.

I still associate that brand with Quasar and Halloween Man, the latter of which is now marketed under the "Halloween" label.
Accordingly, at Arabian Nights I had completely different ideas, somehow something towards oriental sweetness with a focus on saffron and was really surprised at what I was sniffing at while spraying on.

In the beginning, one definitely hears more rose than thyme from the top note. This is even so formative that it is considered to be one of the main components of the Arabian night. But already very close on her heels follows her dark, strong guaiac wood as well as quite dense sandalwood with a soft core of saffron. At the same time, the absolutely soft oud solidifies like a monolith in the vast center of creation. Everything else turns out to be a minimal ornament, which may have been necessary, but is hardly noticeable due to the weighting.

Out the back the warm but by no means pompous Arabian night dawns in the smooth wooden robe, a little brighter and airier.

Ergo Arabian Nights is a classic oud fragrance with rosy and woody components - just as you've come to feel every second EdP with agarwood is familiar with it. And strangely enough I didn't expect it, even if the pyramid shows exactly that. So you can be wrong, which does not make the fragrance more original but definitely not worse.

Beautiful perfume, major disappointment
I've been looking for "Arabian Nights" for ages so when I finally managed to get it thanks to a lovely parfumo.com member, you can imagine my excitement. The package arrived, beautiful box and then this wonderful bottle that reminds me of the Alhambra...so far so good! Since I had never sampled it before (yes, a blind buy), I was so curious and anxious to smell it. I sniffed the atomiser and this gorgeous scent overwhelmed me! Oh yes, this must be even better than what I was hoping for...it turned out that it was much less.
Let me explain it better: Owning already a bespoke perfume with oud as a base and burning regularly the wood chips in the house, I reckon that I'm able to recognize a true oud from an accord and I strongly believe that "Arabian Nights" contains a very descent amount of it.
After application, the famous by now rose-oud combination with a light herby (must be the thyme) note takes you by the hand, promising a dreamy journey into what "Arabian Nights" should be. Later, the rose subsides without ever disappearing completely and no more thyme. Patchouli with saffron are the co-protagonists along with the oud now and it's delicious. It's strange though that both these phases last less than half an hour before you get to experience a blast of cedar and sandalwood, making "Arabian Nights" more of a "Forest Nights". So woody but still very good. The wood experience lasts for quite some time before it settles close to the skin into something warm and comfortable. The oud is still detectable as well as a hint of rose (at least on my skin) along with the labdanum, that probably gives us the amber/musk note in the end. Unfortunately, all this beauty reveals itself for an hour and then you remain with a skin scent. Longevity is very mediocre while sillage is ridiculously weak. I feel exactly like fellow @Scarletting...heartbroken. How can anyone create such a perfume, with what appears to be high quality ingredients and deliver nothing more than a light skin scent that you can barely smell on your own wrist after a couple of hours?
I still love it, it's opulent, wonderfully mixed but it promises you the world and delivers just a glimpse of what could have been an unforgettable perfume!

P.S. After more than six months and a new bottle that still awaits for me in the drawer, I can say that my opinion is starting to change. This perfume is transforming itself depending on a variety of factors. Actually, during summer nights the heat amplifies the scent and its staying power. During the winter, when entering a heated room or in case of heated skin you get the same effect. So, what this perfume needs is heat and humidity in order to unravel its beauty and projection. I'm completely in love with it!

Same fragrance as EDT but much more concentrated and durable.
The same aroma as the Edt version, but much more dense and creamy, and with an even greater persistence, for everything else the aroma is very similar. The notes in both versions are the same and only the concentration changes.

From the beginning you can feel the rose and the spices, a very balanced rose, not feminine, adorned with spices and a little sweet, which I love. Immediately, you begin to feel the oud, finishing rounding off the initial aroma with its light dirty and medicated nuances, of an extraordinary beauty. This is the fundamental pillar of perfume, from here, this accord of rose and oud evolves with a multitude of nuances acquired by the notes of patchouli, musk, amber and labdanum, making the aroma, sometimes, dry and warm, and other, resinous, warm and clean. A perfume that prints, to perfection, the thousand and one stories that come to us from Orient.

Literally a Spanish "Rose Oud", executed with mastery and of very good quality. Aromatically it is very similar to Oud Royal de Armani, Incense Oud by Kilian or even Oroluna de Moresque, all of them, perfumes that share their soul of rose and oud, and they differ from each other, by their nuances of accompaniment, but in lines general, they are unified by their conjunction of rose and oud.

The performance is very good, approximately 10 hours on the skin, with a high projection at the beginning, shortly after, it decays to moderate, which is not bad.

Fragrance for cold or temperate climates and of night character, although it would not be out of place on a cool winter morning.

Perfume highly recommended to start in this world of Arabic aromas, which are not oriental.

Dull!
A very dull Montale-esque oud-spices-musk-rose combo, as much decently crafted as blatantly uninspired and indistinguishable from dozens of other fragrances – from half of Montale’s, to loads of Middle East cheaper fragrances (Lattafa, Rasasi, Arabian Oud etc.). It wears nicely, quite on the dark-medicinal-dry side of the spectrum, not too dirty or raw – actually quite smooth, rich enough to show a softer side of soapy (violet)-ambery nuances and a core heart of lighter crisp woods with a shade of suede. But still it’s just another woody-oud scent with a pedantic Oriental texture of generic floral notes, amber and spices, neither bad nor great, as much elegant as shallow, with a very average quality to me (nothing overly cheap, nothing top-notch: “acceptably synthetic”). An unnecessary so-so attempt at jumping on the oud bandwagon. Decent per se, decidedly overpriced for the value for me.

I love the intense opening with a lot of saffron and rose, with a touch of thyme. Then the oud/wood starts to blend, slightly smoky. Great.
