Only the best in the bottle
Verdon, the currently latest fragrance from the brand L'Occitane, has a hard time standing out from its predecessors.
Especially in Germany, the sales of Verdon are rather sluggish, while in France and the USA, it is doing quite well.
But is it really that much worse than its legendary brothers in the brown glass bottle, or could it be the price?
The latter might be more fitting when you notice that Eau de Baux costs 46 euros for 100 ml compared to 36 euros for 50 ml.
It can't be the scent itself, even though it has not been rated positively by some previous reviewers.
In addition to alcohol and water, Verdon also contains pure peppermint oil, sea buckthorn oil, and real wormwood of controlled organic quality.
This, in turn, leads to a moderate longevity, which can vary from skin to skin.
My predecessor wrote the headline "Spraying Wrigley Spearmint," and there is some truth to that.
Unlike many conventional products, the mint is not chemically manufactured, mostly combined with cocoa, vanilla, or chocolate to create a sweet or oriental scent (amber).
This is not the case with Verdon!!
Verdon contains pure peppermint oil just as you can buy it in its natural form.
As a top note, you find "this" very intense, which may seem quite unusual and possibly off-putting to some noses.
But peppermint oil smells like that and not like chocolate or vanilla.
In the heart note, pure lavender flowers dominate - L'Occitane uses only the flowers, not the stems, to achieve an unadulterated lavender scent.
Even though the heart note carries the lavender, the mint remains, and dry cedar finds its conclusion.
If you want to know how lavender unfolds, I can warmly recommend Lavande EdC from L'Occitane, as you will find just that in Verdon.
Basically, Verdon is on the right track, but in Germany, it has the worse cards because many prefer chemically manufactured mint with chocolate or vanilla or simply do not like peppermint oil.
To return to my opening statement, it is currently the latest fragrance since Cedre Oranger & Co. are from the Grasse collection.
Conclusion:
For peppermint lovers and fans of natural lavender, it is an absolute must-have, and of course, for all L'Occitane enthusiasts.
