Adiós Pampamia Hombre La Martina 2011 Eau de Toilette

I was captivated by the flask. The shape is similar to Bottega Veneta's fragrances, the juice inside is pale green, and the cap has the company's logo with a leather strip... But, all that glitters is not gold. To begin with, I think I have some trouble with La Martina fragrances, cause this is my second purchase from that house and I am still facing the same issue: I hardly detect any scents when I apply it on my skin. The first one was Cuero Hombre Eau de Toilette, I've fallen in love when I saw the bottle, but disappointed when I wore it the first time. And here we go again! When I first sprayed Adiós Pampamia Hombre on I couldn't detect anything at all, even right after I spray it a second time. The cologne was sold at a special price, merely 30euro for 100ml, and after checking the notes here I blindly bought it. I wish I could get the spicy, smoky, floral, and balsamic accords, yet it was not so obvious. I have the impression that despite the scent is classified as an EDT, it is equivalent to an EDC for what concerns the projection and sillage, perhaps ITALART has different criteria in making the fragrances.

Now that almost 2 hours have passed I can sense something soft, milky, woody and airy with just a slight touch of sweetness. It is very pleasant indeed, but I really have to put my nose to the spot I sprayed it on to pick up anything at all. But I can see why people might like this, it's inoffensive but still unique and pleasant smelling.

Long story short, the cologne on both the paper strip and my skin opens with a blast of boozy alcohol, perhaps that comes from the aldehydes, and after a few minutes, I start smelling a soft spicing aroma of pepper slightly burnt and incensed.

The heart reveals a floral bouquet, the orange blossom is gentle and mild, and the ylang-ylang adds a touch of creaminess. But you have to wait a long while before getting the resinous, powdery, and lactonic aroma. The drydown last many hours, it is very close to the skin, but you can smell it even the day after. That means, the cologne has impressive longevity, still is very contained and does not fill the room where you are in.

My take on this, if you like gentle and harmless fragrances, with soft caresses of spicy, floral, and powdery accents, this one is for you, no matter if you are a typical male, female, young, old, or anything in between. It could be worn at the office during the day, and it won't bother the people near you or on your way. It's fine for meeting friends, for social events, but clubbing. Spring is the right season, maybe too delicate for the rest of the year. All I can say is that the overall fragrance is great, but the performance could be better. Don't take my performance rating as a dictat, I might be nose blind to some of the notes.

I'm basing my opinion on a bottle I have owned since April 2019.

This crisp green, this piercing pepper - what could it have been for us. A medium-heavy 30-second sensation. And the questions: Is that in the "new arrivals shelf?" This bio-fresh, herbal garden spice? Next to marketing-branded trivialities like Armani Code Sport? It smells quite convincingly like the salad bar of an exquisite restaurant. Oil-drenched leaves, basil - hatschi, I thought. This is not for the masses.

But all of a sudden, La Martina became foreign to me, as the soft vanilla core revealed itself behind the sharp, energetically ecological exterior.
After the salad: a powerful dessert. A gourmand like a flytrap. The promise of happiness for pubescent girls. Yes, it must be balm. So sweet, broad, and sticky that a metaphorical spoon would get stuck in it.
Mercifully, the environment rushes by completely undisturbed by the wearer of "Adios Pampina." Its radiance remains too timid to be accused of showing off. And what remains after two hours, I would actually still describe as a somewhat conciliatory ending. Smoky benzoin, unfortunately only traceable with a pressed nose on the sprayed skin.

Therefore: Take my conclusion from the headline.

Stay away and don’t come back! Fin.

After Tierra del Fuego would be great, if it weren't just an Aventus copy, I was of course torn and cautious about other La Martina fragrances. Today, apart from Adios Pampamia, there was nothing left in the men's section that wasn't already on my testing table. When applied to the back of the hand...

... fresh, slightly green, hard to categorize, best to wait a bit... Oh, now it’s getting vanilla-like, a real Oriental like Roma Uomo. Sweet, wobbly, creamy, extremely powdery. Baby powder on Argentine steak.

Once again, I notice that I perceive the base notes extremely early. Hardly any perfume adheres to the structure: minute 1-5 top notes, minutes 5-60 heart notes, and from then on base notes. I often smell the stronger base notes in the background right away, which give the fragrances their true character. Just a side note ;-)

I like sweetness, so here are some plus points, but I have smelled much better and less wobbly and cheap scents. You can somehow tell that not very high-quality materials were used here. However, it’s still just on the edge of good taste. I don't perceive any pepper, and incense smells different to me. But there are all kinds of variations. A bit of orange joins the vanilla, and the benzoin adds a Le Male kick. But it only smells somewhat like Le Male. Perhaps like Le Male after 6 hours, but here already after 5 minutes.

Longevity is good at 7-8 hours, but typical for a vanilla-oriental fragrance. These last a long time. Sillage is good to strong, and it also takes what it gets from the genre. The bottle is hardly worth mentioning.

Overall, only for absolute hardcore fans of sweet Orientals and powdery scents. But even for them, only as a test... I’m curious if other La Martina fragrances will finally be better and more distinctive!

Last week at Pieper, I quickly noticed the packaging of the two fragrances from the previously unknown brand. On one hand, there was Cuero and Adios Pampamia, but the tester for the latter was not on the shelf.
So I first sprayed Cuero and found it not too bad, but then lost track of it. I tried a few more around and ended up having a pleasant conversation with a saleswoman, and at some point, she asked me if I was familiar with the two Spaniards. I said yes, one of them, but there was no tester for the other. She then pointed to the small table next to us, where the new arrivals were displayed on a separate tablet. I had completely ignored that until then. She reached for the inconspicuously shaped bottle colored light blue, which reminded me of a bottle of mouthwash, bath additive, and a bit of Old Spice. Well, plus the light blue color...
She said this was a somewhat fresher representative since I was actually looking for something dark and spicy. She sprayed something on my wrist, and indeed, the scent is initially very, very fresh and almost medicinal. But not menthol, rather somehow green in taste like herbs. I didn't find it too bad, but as I said, it was not at all what I was looking for.
We chatted for a while longer, about 10 minutes. Now and then, she handed me a sprayed test strip of this and that, and during that time, I had to keep sniffing my wrist sprayed with Adios Pampamia, as I was slowly wondering why 1. I could still smell anything at all and 2. what transformation the scent was undergoing.
So this is truly phenomenal, and I have only experienced something like this in Givenchy's Very Irrésistible for Men. I mean in terms of transformability, not the scent itself.
Adios Pampamia thus evolves from medicinal herbal freshness to woody sweetness with a slight gourmand touch. The great thing about it is that this metamorphosis is completely harmonious and almost imperceptible. It is really enjoyable to observe the scent during this process. The only thing that remains from the top note after a few hours is the certain scratchy sharpness of the pepper, which ensures that the scent does not become too sweet. Aside from the pepper and vanilla, I can't really identify the other listed notes. I don't perceive the pepper at all in the top note, but rather clearly together with the very subtly dosed vanilla. I could swear that there is also something woody and patchouli involved.

A word about longevity: It must have been around 2 PM when the scent was sprayed on me, and I made sure not to wash it off accidentally because I wanted to wait and see how it developed and how long-lasting it was. I only remember that as it was getting dark, the scent was still very noticeably present.

Adios Pampamia is an extremely interesting fragrance and could perhaps become a candidate for purchase. I'm just not quite sure yet if I really want to wear it or if I'm just fascinated by it.
I definitely need to test it directly against Fahrenheit Absolute because I actually wanted to buy that scent that day, but it was no longer in stock. I think there was a certain similarity between the two. If that gets confirmed again, I will only buy one of them.

Another sample I found in the basket, but I was quite shocked when I had to take note of the rather positive reviews.

"La Martina"... I only know the brand from Dieter Bohlen, who always wore their polos. By now, he has switched to Camp David. Which I think is a good thing. :D
Then I became aware of it in various perfumeries and immediately associated it with Dieter Bohlen. And of course, there was also a sample included somewhere with the purchase of another fragrance. So I thought to myself, just test it and see what comes.

But I can't get excited about it at all. When I spray it on, I soon have to step aside because something bothers me. I can't define exactly what it is. It's just disgusting to me. I think it might be orange blossom, but one that has really seen better days.

Quickly, after about 15 minutes, I also reach the final chord. I can smell the vanilla and a hint of benzoin. Actually, I have nothing against vanilla, but here, I just can't warm up to it. I can't even describe how it smells. Slightly musty? No, not that either. It's just not to my taste.

I think I would rather tend to buy a polo shirt from this brand than a fragrance.
