A Breath of Fresh Air
Awaan is so good. I hear many refer to this fragrance as a Coco Mademoiselle dupe. It's partially true, but not really. Coco Mademoiselle has a crispness to it because of the aldehydes that this doesn't have first off. It really is its own creation. There is a slight Coco Mademoiselle resemblance with that patchouli citrus, musky Chypre type blend in a sense...yes..but this fragrance as a whole has a fresh citrus juicy aroma, like fresh juice, from the tops and it remains all the way through that's very refreshing yet sweet in a different way we don't usually always get. Usually we get citrus from the tops that eventually fade as a perfume transforms in its different stages. Which is fine. But this is just nice to keep it going all the way through. So yes there is patchouli but there is also extra added spices that mixes with a sweet floral jasmine and orange blossom that makes the mix so interestingly sweet and intense. It's not like the grapey fragrances that we are use to because it has that middle eastern twist uniquely mixed in. Awaan has so many layers to it yet it works which is why it's so exciting. It also has a candy like quality just like Chinatown does from Bond No9. Which makes me love it all the more.
So it's serious, yet playful. Mature yet well rounded..full bodied and it lingers. It's beautifully aromatic and just pulls you in. And yes because there is so much going on it makes you question what all is happening in this fragrance which makes it so much more interesting. But what I love about it, which is the best part of the fragrance you love, is it's consistent all the way through and you never loose anything you would like to keep which makes me enjoy it even more and all the way to the end. I also love when fragrances develop but the fragrance smells so lovely I prefer it to stay just where it is.
It's so unique and different from mainstream, at least to me personally, that it is a breath of fresh air. I love to see identity or character from a fragrance that makes it unique, you know different from the usual. Lataffa achieved that with this fragrance. I'm considering getting a back-up bottle of it, it's that good and so affordable too. I really enjoy Lataffa as a whole and want to collect more of their creations and dupes. The presentation, because this is from the Lataffa Pride Collection is really top notch. The bottle is heavy and durable. It's in olive green and also has circular dotted gold plates all around the bottle along with a heavy gold cap. The box has a velvety foam inside that presents the bottle and its incased in an olive and gold box that slides out that is extremely durable and fancy. I just love what Arabian perfumery brings to the world. And at such affordable prices. I'm just so impressed that this type of perfumery still exists in the world and it encourages me to enjoy perfumery more once again and want to try everything that is being put out.
