Light Pink, Fluffy Aldehyde
A very clean and incredibly sweet white musk, almost like a fat bar of regular dove soap, but make it *pink*. It does remind me a bit of sweet, nice, girly pink childrens’ toothpaste. It smells like a light pink pastel colour in a way? Or maybe a warm bubble bath in the most lush way and then being wrapped in a warm clean fuzzy towel.

All that aside it is actually kinda grown up, and it melts beautifully into the skin and would suit any age as a clean soapy scent. The pink pastel vibes as well.

Why Pay For This?
The scent is a clean floral, opening with a laundry-scent due to the aldehydes. It is cold and sparkly, but not sharp or deeply artificial. Over time, the aldehydes die down and the florals take the stage. The vanilla at the bottom of the pyramid keeps everything neat and soft. Unfortunately, I find Aldehyde 44 to be beautiful and I would love to have a bottle.

The price is crazy, and it just keeps getting higher. $500+ for 100mL of this stuff is a lot, considering so many other brands have clean florals for much less: Byredo has Blanche (~$350), Chanel has many options, et cetera. I even find some resemblence here in Fleur de Peau by Diptyque, which tends to be more spicy and full, and less sweet and delicate. Since I already have Fleur de Peau, I can rest easy knowing I don't need Aldehyde 44. What you do with your money is your business.

Aldehyde 44....Undoubtedly A Masterpiece!!
My most worn Le Labo and I have 20 Le Labos! It is so comforting and exudes vibes of cleanliness. I thoroughly enjoy this fragrance from opening through dry down. It is a dry, sweet, soapy, aldehydic floral that is neither masculine nor feminine. There is a monstrous dose of clean white musk in this fragrance that produces a detergent like vibe. I am also a fan of "clean" fragrances such as Comme des Garçons Synthetic Series: Dry Clean, Abdul Samad Al Qurashi Body Musk, and Le Labo Musc 25... I literally wear this fragrance every single day after I get out of the shower right before bedtime although I do wear it during the daytime too. I find it incredibly versatile. This fragrance lasts all day long. I'm sorry Coutureguru. I have to strongly disagree with your review. If you own a bottle, you can get refills (only with an original bottle) from LeLabo in Nolita (NYC) for a limited time, otherwise you are out of luck as it is a discontinued city exclusive.

UPDATE: This is now back in stock at the Dallas Boutique!

A definite miss ...
I'm one of those people who is a soft sell when it comes to fragrances. I think I just like the fact that there is SOOOO much out there that I can find loveliness in pretty much all of it. I like the way things smell when they smell good ... period.

Every so often a stinker of such vast proportions comes along that it makes my hair stand on end which, as I have a shaved head, is no mean feat. This one is definitely a member of the 'shoulda-been-destroyed-on-the-blotter" club. It joins other noteworthies like D&G Rose The One, Escada's Magnetism and pretty much every Britney, Paris and Justin frag ever created. It screeches off my skin in the most alarming way giving me instant nausea and a tickling sensation in the back of my throat. The notes sound promising (no Tuberose to speak of here!!) ... but the delivery is unfortunately a disastrous mangle of aromachemical hell. I'm not sure how it's possible to f*k up a fragrance like this using these basic notes ... but Le Labo has managed it with Aldehyde 44.

I really don't like being mean about a fragrance but on me, this is truly a horror. I received it as a sample and the two spritzes out of it will be the first and last. It's exhorbitant price aside, I just cannot fathom anyone wanting to smell like this. Please let me know if you are reading this review and enjoy wearing this one ... I'd love an enthusiasts opinion.

A great sunny aldehyde with white floral creamy undertones...very unisex. It dries down to a creamy vanilla, and it lasts forever. Amazing..

Candy/detergent-like aldehyde opening that quickly dissipates to some powdery florals. I really thought I’d fall in love, but sadly not.

A uber clean musk, aldehydes and floral vanilla. Its sunshine in a bottle, really.

Speaks like a traditional aldehydic fragrance in the opening and closes with a much sweeter, tuberose forward finish.

Subtle, ozonic-metallic-spherical musk aldehydes with a delicate, slightly sweet floral note. Sci-fi scent. A bit too artificial for me.

The quirky little sister of Liu, fresh, cheerful, suitable for everyday wear, definitely less depth and unfortunately a bit shorter-lived.

And who invented it? Chanel. A tamed, pleasant, approachable, happier version of the legendary No.5 (Premiere). Elegant.
