Too Intentional
In an expensive Munich perfumery, the sensitive salesperson urged me to try this fragrance. At first, he hesitated to recommend it to me because it is so special. One thing is clear: the scent has something to offer. In the opening, fruity notes are prominent, along with something reminiscent of a sparkling aperitif (the salesperson described it as champagne). Gradually, sandalwood comes to the forefront. And that doesn't stop. Only late in the dry down do vanilla and cocoa notes emerge. The fragrance is incredibly versatile with many different components and can definitely do something. However, to me, it feels too forced and like a strange mix of fruity incense with a sweet/gourmand touch. Even though the scent is supposedly Adele's new favorite - during her European tour last year, the hotel had placed it in her room, and she was obsessed with it - the salesperson whispered that to me ;) Longevity and sillage are solid.

Bad Name Meets Good Scent
"What about me?", which could be translated as "And me?", unfortunately doesn't help me much as a name; therefore, here is my review for all interested parties.

Lengling has once again hit the mark with this fragrance in terms of creativity - aside from the name, it combines exquisite scent notes:

Ume - what is that supposed to be? A fruit, as it turns out after some research, also known as "Japanese apricot." This comes through when you smell it closely, but the dominant notes in this fragrance are other elements: juniper, patchouli, and pepper create a smoky, slightly earthy, and spicy base. The pleasant companions, especially at the beginning, are the citrus notes; hidden in the heart is the ume, which, however, stands in the shadow of the spice and smoke.

I hope I won’t be stoned for making a comparison to "Air Tiger | Marc Gebauer." This seems obvious to me; the What About Me? is the clearly more finely tuned and less balsamic scent, in which juniper, patchouli, and woods are similarly present. The difference lies in the "secondary" scent direction; where the What About Me? scores with subtle fruitiness, the Air Tiger stands out with leather and balsamic notes.

For me, a successful, masculine venture!

The Most Beautiful of All Lenglings
The Lengling brand had been on my "to-test list" for a while, so I happily bought the discovery set and was able to test Lengling No 1 to No 9. The saleswoman kindly gave me a sample of "What about me" as well. Now I say, fortunately, otherwise the discovery set (for me personally!) would have unfortunately been a complete flop.

With "What about me," after testing No 1 to No 9, I approached it with correspondingly low expectations. At first, the scent reminded me strongly of a "madam-like" powder puff, and I thought to myself: "Well, that was somehow to be expected." But in the drydown, it develops really beautifully, fruity-floral-fresh, perfect for spring, not intrusive, great for daytime or the office. Of all the Lenglings, it also has the best longevity for me; all the others quickly became very close to the skin, and there was no talk of sillage.

Would I buy it now? A clear no. Looking at the price for 50ml or 100ml, I don't understand the price-performance ratio. If I received it as a gift, I would certainly wear it and not "shove" it out of my collection.

Plum, citrus and juniper cavorting over ISO-E Super and Sandalwood. Really enjoyable contrast between spiky and smooth. Fresh and airy.

Smells a bit like sauna infusion. After sparkling wood and spicy pepper. I also smell cinnamon. Temptingly fresh-warm-spicy.

Peppery freshness, juniper bush, sunlit sandalwood grove. Very subtle fruitiness and no heaviness. Quite amazing.

Delicately spicy, the citrus tingles,
herb-woody is celebrated.
Sensual and mystical until the end.
I want to linger at this party.

Enigma as a fragrance twin? I’d recommend seeing an ENT immediately. Peppery woodiness, gin with umeboshi, nature-connected, nice.

This scent is very present and shouts: here I am. It evokes memories and leaves a warm embrace of self-expression.

I sniffed the cold balm, quite spicy and with good staying power. I like it, but I wouldn't wear it.

For me, it's a spicy wood scent with an underlying sweetness that's well-crafted. My nose just doesn't really like this type of wood notes.

starts interestingly, but then loses its edges. what remains is a standard scent that you can smell on every corner.
