This could have been a common floral-aldehyde. In the opening it is, actually. With its dense layer of aldehydes and spice it even goes into retro-feminine territory for a while. But then again, this has Antoine Lie's name on it. And for some reason he decided to mess around with the ratios and put a motherlode of actual ambergris in this baby. The end result lies somewhere between madness and brilliance. And I love it.

Golden & Gorgeous

At this price I wish I could ignore it, but I couldn’t. I find it truly divine. Ambre Supreme strikes a wonderful balance between a gorgeous jasmine and rich golden ambergris that is classic with feeling dated or old-fashioned.

The top notes are exciting and joyful. The heart is a rich and indolic white floral which rests confidently within a base of immortelle and ambergris.

The base is salty, buttery, golden pollen that blends beautifully with the white floral notes. It’s smooth like sleeping naked in silky bed.

The heart is more jasmine than neroli to my nose but it’s inconsequential. It’s doing what I want white florals to do. Fragrant but not too sweet—they are heady, seductive, confident, and unabashedly pretty. The spicy top notes and the balance of florals keep the fragrance just on the suggestive side of skanky. (I’ve found that it is up to the wearer to tip the scale.)

The ambergris is obviously on high display here showing off its exceptional abilities. It brings a glowing expansiveness, depth and smoothness to the composition that justifies the cost.

I wear it for social evenings out and occasionally for quiet evenings in. My child says it smells “cozy.” My partner just growls. I think it smells like divine magic. Whenever I wear it I feel golden, joyful, and at peace.

Brilliant, precious, salty, naughty, natural Ambergris

What a beautiful creation, natural Ambergris can hardly get any better than this, unless you start wading through the jungle of artisanal and indie fragrances. If you want a fragrance that is also easy to use somewhere else but home and is wearable in every kind of way, then Ambre Suprême is definitely worth a try. There is 10% Ambre gris in this juice which is very rare to find from the market. Almost all "Amber gris" in perfumes is synthetic.

In Ambre Suprême there is a silky smooth, tame animalic natural Ambergris - it feels salty, sensual, like the skin after swimming in the sea. It's addictive, I can't stop smelling my wrist when wearing this one. There are delicate, subtle florals in the heart but the scent is so well blended that honestly, my attention is drawn to Ambergris because that aroma is so special here. There are not spices on my skin. Aquatic or fresh, which I have seen in accords, must be due to the maritime atmosphere that comes from the scent since this is not that kind of watery aquatic nor fresh in the way it is usually understood.

Even if I didn't like the simplicity in Oriental Velours and Cuir de Chine , here it absolutely works. I'm totally in love with this scent.

Flowers in a salt marsh

Ambre Supreme combines pink pepper and sweet florals with divine saltiness and a bit of the dankness of a marsh at low tide. A gorgeous natural brininess ebbs and flows under the sweet florals, and there's a hint of creamy patchouli and a tiny bit of soapiness. It eventually dries down into something so cozy, buttery, intimate, and a little naughty. It's everything I want in an animalic scent, my favorite category. Ambre Suprême is so beautiful. The best example of natural ambergris I've experienced so far.
