Harsh rose
I don’t know who the Jamal in Rose de Jamal is, but I suspect he’s the guy they hired to sneak into the Kannauj attar factory at night and spoil an otherwise nice, fresh green rose distillation with an over-enthusiastic pour of whatever woody aromachemical they use in Rose 31 (Le Labo).

I can’t blame Jamal. The shortage of real sandalwood oil, coupled with the rise in India of a middle class of young men and women who largely prefer to smell fresh and modern in dupes of Dior Sauvage and Gucci Flora than of anything their parents or grandparents might have worn, i.e., attars and ruhs wrung from Mother India’s abundant flowers, herbs, and aromatics, has pretty much taken the traditional attar factories of Kannauj out at the knees.

Rose de Jamal smells like the stuff churned out these days by attar houses that have accepted reality and switched to producing oil-based freshies and designer dupes in their labs (no deg and bhapka here), their backrooms filled with gallon containers of modern aromachemicals rather than precious rose oils, sandalwood, or choyas. So, like I said, I don’t blame Jamal. He’s just out there, trying to survive, you know? I do blame Antoine Lie, however. I love Antoine Lie’s work in general, so I’m not too sure what went wrong here, unless it was a deliberate cash grab for the market share currently dominated by Rose 31 (Le Labo). Rose de Jamal smells like the beginnings of a decent rose accord – minty, powdery, but also jammy – quickly smothered by a brutal cloud of chemical ‘radiance’ that seems to last for days on fabric and on the skin.

Best Male Rose in Niche Perfumery? Yes, and by far
Well, I'm kind of confused about the valutations..if I didn't know the fragrance I would consider it, based on the general opinions on this forum, nothing more than a mediocre parfum..something cheesy in the way radical rose is.
And let me say, the truth is the exact opposite.
I have tried thousands of fragrances in the last two years, not counting in my entire life as a passionate and I'm serious when I say that this one is probably the most qualitative and wearable Rose I have ever tried, way better than Lyric Man for example. Of course i'm talking about niche perfumery, if I had to consider the entire Indie world the answer would be very good fragrance, but not "the best Rose" (I mean it is not Rose Sultan).
Anyway, in the Niche panorama it is a masterpiece of a creation, a Rose Fougere that really make you smell as a gentleman while adding some sort of an Avant-garde look, and the raw materials..I mean, wow. The Rose absolute is fantastic.
I'm sorry for the detractors, but you couldn't be more wrong.
Rose de Jamal is by far the best Rose (Male Rose in my opinion) of the entire Niche Offer.

Almost like a solifore, fresh, fragile, innocent Rose (+ some words compared with Lyric Man: It's not similar)
I was thinking to write a statement because this scent is so simple but after seeing the comparison with Lyric Man I changed my mind. I just wrote about that one and these two scents are very different. Later in this review I will explain the differences/similarities.

"Rose de Jamal | Les Indémodables" could easily be thought of as a solifore. It's so fresh, natural innocent Rose where the other notes do not bring clearly anything special to the rose's own aroma. The green nuances could be only from the rose oil but in this scent Mint (if there is any, not mentioned in the brands site) complements its greenery without being fresh or mentholated in any way. Therefore, the pepper is not a sharp kick as it is in some perfumes, but rather it is mild and gentle. I don't think there is Geranium (not mentioned either) but at least it never leaves the rose's own aroma behind and therefore the scent remains as a very natural rose. Woody note from Cedar gives the structure, keeping the rose's scent molecules alive longer and Lavender doesn't make this scent herbal nor aromatic. Due to all these mentioned reasons, I would call this fragrance a solifore. Soliflores, otherwise known as a single flower aroma, may at first glance, seem as one note like if the oil is extracted from the flower, dilute it in alcohol or oil, and bottle it up. The scent is fragile as are the petals of roses that grow wild in nature. It has barely any sillage and it isn't very long-lasting, but it's supremely beautiful. It's unisex scent as well and there is not any sweetness to make it unnatural in any kind of way.

Then what about Lyric Man ? What is similar to "Rose de Jamal | Les Indémodables" is precisely the scent of pure rose, the way pure rose performs in the fragrance. It is a delicate, natural, fresh and green aroma of roses. Only that association unites these two scents - not that they smell completely the same, after all, they are built in completely different ways. Even the depth and intensity of the rose is distinctly different. In Lyric Man the aroma of the rose is completely intertwined with the citruses which is the first big difference. Secondly, Lyric Man is a very complex fragrance, which firstly makes it extraordinarily multidimensional by performing extremely differently at different temperatures, but it also differs greatly on different people's skin. Rose de Jamal, on the other hand, doesn't have that many different characters, because it's almost a solifore. As I wrote about Lyric Man :
"If I describe the scent simply:
In cold it's Roses with citruses in a clean musky base.
In warm it's fresh spicy roses in distinctly oriental base."
"Rose de Jamal | Les Indémodables" , on the other hand, cannot possibly be described in either of the aforementioned ways.

Ingredients mentioned in the brands website:
Rose absolue Maroc 5,5%,
Cèdre atlas essence Maroc 2,8%,
Baie rose (known as well Pink Peppercorn) CO2 Madagascar 1,7%,
Lavande essence France 0,7%

Thank you for reading and if you want to read more about Lyric Man you will find my review there.

Rose de Jamal: Raw, Natural, Perfectly Imperfect
If someone asked me to describe this fragrance, I would say it smells like rose in its entirety —the roots, stem, and flower-enhanced by a subtle touch of mint and cedar. The closest experience to this scent would be stepping into a flower shop filled predominantly with roses, where the air is thick with their natural aroma. That essence is beautifully captured in this small Les Indémodables bottle.
This is truly a stunning creation, and arguably one of the best rose fragrances in all of perfumery. It also holds a deeply personal meaning for me —there was a time in my life when I reached for this fragrance, and it brought me a sense of comfort when I needed it most. That memory stays with me, making this scent feel intimate and reflective in a way that
goes beyond its composition.

That being said, I do have one small critique. At times, it takes on a nuance that reminds me of dill, which can be slightly distracting from its otherwise flawless beauty.
Even with that, Rose de Jamal remains an exceptional fragrance, one that embodies the raw and natural beauty of roses in a way few others do.

The praise isn't justified: intriguing complex start is deprecated by woody chemical mess in the mid/base - runs through brand's portfolio..

This is awesome. I dont like rose but the mint and cedar and lavender do a great jab taming the rose and preventing it from being cloying

Pepper gives the rose a real kick, and mint adds a fresh twist. Lively and uplifting, but still easy to wear every day.

Woody rose menthol. Fresh green, powdery rose brightened by a camphorous but smooth, almost chewing gum-like mint atop an ambery cedar base.

Rose amplified with lavender and mint. Unfortunately everything feels muddled and stodgy. Dry down to a woody rose base which is much nicer

The rose smells like real damask roses. The mint is interesting but ultimately not a combo I enjoy wearing

A fresh, green may rose on creamy cedar. Compared to Lyric Man this composition is more buttery and creamy, perhaps less complex but nice!

Fresh, natural, green, innocent Rose. Like a solifore. Can't be compared w/ complex totally different scent. No Mint nor Geranium. >Review
