The Unexpected Flowers
After I enjoyed the test of the Different-Company Bergamot so much and the one from Acqua Di Parma has been living in my perfume drawer for quite some time, I am continuing a little tradition with this report. So here we go!
The opening citrus accord is magnificent and appetizing yet not sun-drunk. There are no hissing fruit explosions; instead, images of retreat and calm are conjured. Southern gardens begin to breathe again in the evening light after an oppressively hot day. For a not too long while, the namesake bergamot appears typically and clearly takes the lead in the citrus orchestra. Especially the lemons become unusually tame under its guidance. Quickly, the duo is surrounded, almost besieged, by a variety of floral elements. The orange blossoms contribute a lovely, spicy aspect, and jasmine can be sensed as a whisper. A bit unpleasant is the appearance of a very sugary violet, which exaggerates the sweetness that the fragrance has now taken on to the point that it pricks my nose a little. On a different skin than mine, certainly a feminine one, this could be just right. There isn’t much to say about the base; it is rather weak, but that’s not a problem with such a featherlight scent. A fine, predominantly floral composition, in which the bergamot unfortunately remains somewhat pale.
