Simple diva
As soon as tuberose is mentioned as a note, you can expect some comparisons with Fracas Eau de Parfum . For good reasons, I think. For me, Fracas was the gateway to the tuberose domain. In a sense Carolina and Fracas are similar. Well, if you can look beyond the differences in the note breakdown. In both perfumes the tuberose is displayed as a full-on diva, commanding attention with her passionate, somewhat irrational behavior.

More recently, I tried "Carnal Flower | Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle" by Dominique Ropion. He did an impressive job of taming the infamous white flower. Although that fragrance is beautiful in pretty much every way, I felt it didn't capture the essence of the tuberose. A diva does not want to be constrained.

Mazzolari's approach is different. No fruity notes even they are listed, no greens, no honey, no orris butter. The characteristic flower in its pure and singular form is put on a pedestal here. The result is an all linear scent without a heady opening or complicated plot.

Carolina may be a slow starter, once unleashed she is nothing but temperament. A bold white floral with a flamboyant personality. Stylish, emotional and impossible to stay unnoticed. Not necessarily loud, just a confident presence at all times. A must-try for whoever enjoys an ultra-feminine white floral.

Tuberoscarf
I read about CAROLINA, that it is a classical white-flower fragrance. When I nuzzled the perfume in the sample vial, the sense was rather purple, I saw a lady driving a cabrio while her purple scarf is flagging in the wind. So I gave it a try, even though it contains tuberose. I can not stand this note. And tuberose can not stand me, and persecute me mercilessly, when it is possible – as now.

I felt as I had dressed in rotten FRACAS, so I should say only the facts shortly: CAROLINA is:
- feminine
- strong
- durable
I can easily recommend it to tuberose fans.
My rating is also 50%, since even my reluctant nose can feel the high quality of the notes and the elegance that others can gain from this creature.

Like a happy morning with no plans ahead
It’s the scent of quiet happiness, of bright serenity, of that feeling when everything is in the right place for no particular reason. A clean, airy, lightweight floral, with the same kind of emotional grace I get from Catherine .
The star is a transformed tuberose: not fleshy, not nocturnal, not indolic. No excess, no “granny” vibes, no opulence. Just a clear, sunny tuberose.
A completely different face of such a bold flower!
And it’s not just tuberose, by the way. There’s lots of cleanness here — fresh, tidy, pretty florals. Fruity notes? Eh, maybe just a juicy hint that really intrigues me.
There’s a sense of emotional order, of comforting cleanliness.
It feels like a happy morning with no plans ahead

Flower lovers, pay attention!
Floral-fruity is, for me, one of the most unpleasant things I can imagine when it comes to perfumes. That's why I was initially very hesitant when I sprayed on Carolina. But I was mistaken; this scent is a pleasant surprise for me, even though I hardly have an appropriate occasion to wear it.

I cannot detect fruity notes in the slightest. I don't miss them in any way. Instead, the floral aura that the perfume emits is all the more beautiful. These flowers are dark, sonorous like a large bell, and have a spacious volume. Nothing here is stuffy or even sticky. No, on the contrary, I find that Carolina is a cool scent. But with an elegance that reminds me of Joy by Patou or Fath de Fath. This is not a scent for every day and certainly not for a Saturday night party with friends. Carolina deserves a grand appearance, and a woman who could wear it is, for example, the singer Milva. A full-bodied woman with a mane of red curls, but not girlish, rather sophisticated and a bit austere.

What makes me lower my rating a bit is the fact that Carolina hardly changes. Not much happens; the scent doesn't tell a story. I don't like it when a scent changes themes, but a harmonious flow should be present, and I miss that a little. Thus, the floral splendor remains somewhat static until it - however, only after many hours - slowly fades.

Carolina will not end up on my wish list. On one hand, due to the lack of opportunity to wear it, and on the other hand, because it just doesn't suit me at all. But getting to know it was definitely worth the test.

Tuberose Alarm
Carolina sprayed on: Tuberose Alarm
Nose to the sprayed spot: Heaven, this is too dense!
Note: Carolina needs a sniffing safety distance of at least 10 cm.
Waited: Tuberose Alarm.
Waved with the sprayed hand: Tuberose Alarm.
Thought: where do I know this scent from?
Reflected: I know this scent, but which one was it? A tuberose bomb, of course. But which one?
Extended Parfumo search: Female, before 1990, Tuberose. Too many results. Unfortunately, not helpful.
Brought out the perfume book from 1992: Keyword Tuberose. Unfortunately, no examples. Flipped through the whole book, maybe I’ll find the scent by chance.
In between: kept sniffing Carolina, Tuberose Alarm.
Extended Parfumo search: or was it earlier? Before 1985? Unfortunately, also no help.
Meanwhile: Tuberose clouds wafting from my hand.

I give up. A scent like Carolina I know from the past, but I just can’t place it. During the test of Robert Piguet's "Fracas" back then, which incidentally smells very similar, it was the same - an olfactory time travel into the past without tuberose enlightenment.

Carolina is a tuberose bomb of the highest quality. Hardly to be topped in intensity and sillage. Those seeking pure tuberose, very well done, are absolutely right here. A floral rush in rich opulence, other scent notes are hardly discernible. Sensual, fresh, sweet. Very feminine, not a wallflower.

As it says in my perfume book about tuberose: "A proud white flower from the lily family, which grows in many tropical countries. Its scent is sultry and intoxicating, with a typical coconut nuance." And I am no match for the tuberose, especially not this one.

A loud tuberose underpinned by a sugary fruit note. Unfortunately, that's on the edge of tolerable for me. You have to like it.

After the stunningly lush and rich tuberose opening, it becomes a bit cooler and more subdued. Very feminine and expressive.

The scent is getting a bad rap here. A delicate tuberose, wearable and lovely.

A virgin shyly crossing her legs.
So that no one sees the sinful side.
Tuberose fail - so boring!
