Maritime Elegance with a Short Breath
The Coastal Cypress & Sea Fennel Eau de Toilette effectively surprised me; particularly because I was not very familiar with the brand, but also due to the quite exciting DNA for the price range. Well, the scent is meant to be a tribute to the fresh-maritime breeze. An aquatically green-tinged fragrance.
Now, let's get into the scent itself:
- In the opening, fig leaf and bergamot play together in a refreshing and invigorating way; very fresh and sparkling. The maritime undertone is already present with the sea fennel, which has a slightly spicy-herbaceous scent; definitely very fresh.
- As it develops, a bright floral jasmine note emerges, which together with the cypress appears very elegantly, but also simultaneously spicy and green. The maritime notes, however, remain in the foreground and are the main player; nonetheless, the interplay of maritime notes and this floral-spicy base is very beautiful.
- In the drydown, a woody base accord comes in, softened by gentle musk. The green cypress subtly lingers and retains this freshness even in the final phase.
- A point of criticism is the longevity and sillage; it is really below average, even for this type of DNA. If rated "positively" here, the rating could even be one point lower.
Well, the scent is a great summer fragrance that is quite unique in its DNA, but unfortunately too short-lived. I think, however, that for the price, one can spray it on nicely; definitely not everyone smells like this, so it is something special.
