Modern Aromachemistry
This scent could also be from Boss or Gammon or another brand that is not about the art of perfume, but about function. It feels almost soulless. It smells pleasant and has a recognizable character, but it lacks refinement, delicacy, clarity, or simply put: a certain degree of beauty that truly touches you.
With this fragrance, you get a bitter-fruity-sweet-sour grapefruit and something smoky-earthy, slightly musty-dusty vetiver-like, mixed with a bit of powdery-woody in the base. One comes from a can and the other from a lab. This diffuse, not quite tangible character of the purely artificially produced ingredients, which seem to collapse or dust away as soon as you blow on them, really gets on my nerves and ultimately spoils this fragrance for me over time.
Vetiver & Grapefruit comes across as serious, well-groomed, and understated. Muted gray-fruity. Despite all the modernity of the components, it is quite classically oriented (this is also the feature that shows a certain ambition for me). Mass-appeal with a light character. You are well-scented for all occasions. That’s all the fragrance wants. I acknowledge that, but it doesn’t suffice for me in its executed form.
