My favourite fragrance
When I first smelt it in Capri, I had had to ask the woman next to me what fragrance was. I went to the shop, and it has been a wonderful love-story.
I am completely in love with this fragrance. It lasts a lot and make me feel in a cloud of pleasure.

It's an amber fragrance (I love amber) and starts silently, as a dream, but when you come to the heart notes...boom: a sweet iris...Amazing :-)

Cat Mood Picture
Coffee in the cold kitchen. Bottles, glasses, ashtrays.
Against the smell of cold smoke, only fresh smoke helps.
Cigarette on. Headache on.
The stupor of today is alcohol and nicotine from yesterday. Outside the November fog, it was already there yesterday. And the day before yesterday. I actually can't remember any other weather. You always forget how far away the other seasons are in a different season. And how far away the strength is when you're done.
Just run away.
Good that they are gone too.
Terrible that they are all gone. When you need someone, you can't stand anyone... You are just a bad taste in my mouth.
The flowers I put on the table a few days ago died in the vase last night while we all sat around them. When do cut flowers actually die? When you cut them? Or only when they wilt? Or when you throw them in the bin? They smell strange now anyway. Rooty, a bit like celery.
This swill that M. brought - I don't even know why I didn't stick to beer. I actually know better. Just because people sometimes get their sentimental fits, they drink the worst stuff. Bearwort, because he comes from Lower Bavaria. I do too, so I don't have to constantly bother humanity with it! Just because I share the origin with this sadistic specialty, it doesn't make it any better. To avoid saying something worse, I told M. that I would prefer if he came from Montepulciano. He didn't find that very funny. However, better than Gdansk, I added, to steer the conversation back on track. His long-time girlfriend Hannah then laughed hysterically. She has no sense of humor, and that's why she always thinks everything she doesn't understand is a joke. She has trained herself to laugh then. Hahaha. Sometimes something really funny comes out of it. She often doesn't understand things, that needs to be said. And where do I come from? "From Riesling." Was that quick-witted? Michelangelo was, according to Aretino, from wine, "divino... di vino"
And I am not from water, my lord. But my constantly babbling brain is already doing somersaults again, even though I just can't find any paracetamol in this damn kitchen cupboard... Wine doesn't fit in here at all. Not at all. Why has Iris not said anything the whole time? Probably it was too smoky for her again, just like it was for me, but smoking helps against smoke annoyance. She always looks reproachfully from one to the other, even though I know that she... never mind. I still have to clean the oven, take out the trash, wash the glasses, and call Iris.
Gradually, I'm also getting a somewhat decent fog going in the kitchen that can stand up to the one outside. I need to get outside. Where did I put my leather jacket again? It slipped off the chair and was lying under the table the whole time... I'm fed up now. How long does an ashtray actually smell like an ashtray if you don't do anything about it?
I have a headache.
This whole thing is now available as a fragrance. It's called Montmartre, 1894. With a changed cast, quite imaginable. But life and perfume are not identical. Except in the extended concept of perfume, but that's a whole different topic.

Impressions without Color and Canvas
Keywords that come to mind regarding Montmartre are of course artists, Impressionism, Toulouse-Lautrec, La Boheme, Moulin Rouge, poorly ventilated studios, absinthe, etc. etc. One really needs a lot of imagination to find the connection to the perfume, as it does not cater to these clichés.

I rather see the cool, distant aura of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec turning his back on the castle of his noble family as he fled into the underworld of Paris. Expressed in colors, I see the scent in a transparent gray-green that gradually transforms into a warm, leathery olive.

The perfume is rather subtle on my skin. The top note is surprisingly soft, almost silvery. I have experienced myrrh much louder, and the incense is also used very discreetly. I can hardly discern anything from the heart note; it seems to allow the scent to glide smoothly into a fine, softly leathery base.

I will simply take note of the pyramid described above. Whether it actually holds true is something I cannot verify, but it is not important to me. However, I can truly identify what, thankfully, is not present: neither flowers nor fruits have been used in Montmartre, and thankfully, there is no vanilla either. It somewhat goes against my instincts to click on "resinous" or "smoky," even though these notes are recognizable. But that sounds much harsher and rougher than how Montmartre presents itself to me. "Velvety" would suit my feelings better; the scent is not smooth or shiny, does not represent eroticism or glamour, yet is still quite noble.

Thus, the fragrance does not cater to common trends, can certainly be worn by both genders, and I like it a lot. Montmartre radiates tranquility, is unexcited, and could definitely find its place in my collection.

Italian Seduction
Fragrances often play with our emotions,

Sometimes we are overjoyed by the incredible facets of a scent, completely enchanted as we repeatedly sniff a new fragrance on ourselves

Sometimes fragrances are the mirror of our soul and feelings,

Sometimes they are special companions for the evening, for work, for sports, and ...

Sometimes fragrances are simply just there. Without making much fuss, without a virtuoso dance through top, heart, and base notes.

They are there, unwavering, creating a pool of calm for oneself when needed.

With Montmartre, Morph has achieved exactly this. Frankincense in the top note, without robbing you of your senses. Patchouli in the heart note, without taking away your breath, and in the base waits a warm, soft, old leather armchair
that you simply have to sit in, seemingly cared for with the finest, unsweetened amber.

A fragrance ideal for the moments in life when you seek security, where an imaginary olfactory rock in the surf is your best friend and has seemingly sworn eternal loyalty.

OK, enough of the pathetic words;-)
The scent notes I perceive are indeed in the order of frankincense, patchouli, leather, and amber. I cannot detect any of the other ingredients.
The longevity is sensational. As I am currently on a journey of discovery into "intense dark scents," I have several comparisons at hand. Just yesterday: left hand Amouage; right hand Montmartre; left arm Montale; right arm Mancera. Montmartre was purchased yesterday at 3:00 PM, it survived the shower and the night while all the other candidates disappeared. A longevity that I also know from Kolonaki and is confirmed here.

The scent progression is, as already described, very linear and calm.

The fragrance is labeled as unisex, but I think due to the scent mix (forgive me) it may not suit every female being.

For me, the fragrance is wearable all year round.

Backyard Mashup
Montmartre smells very similar to an evening beer mood, where I experimented a bit with some old leftover fragrance materials. Presumably, some of these materials had long seen their best days, and for every building block, the suitable contrast was missing to create a rounded scent. I discarded the result, finding it terrible.

Moldy-resinous notes dominate everything, and next, I notice a cheap-smelling alcohol. It really gives the impression that someone forgot to dilute the alcohol content with purified water a bit more.

The fragrance materials used here might not even be bad, but everything seems to be put together thoughtlessly. The scent notes don’t really match, I strongly suspect. I’m not even sure if real incense was used here. I rather think that the scent smells like labdanum, elemi, styrax, and some chemicals. I still roughly remember what I mixed back then, and Montmartre really smells almost exactly the same. If I had known I could make money with it.... still, I would have been ashamed of the scent.

Oh... and it’s the first fragrance in my life that makes my skin itch.

Sweet, powdery, delicate with a hint of incense. Overall, it has a relaxing vibe for me. Whether it reflects Montmartre, I can't say.

Many things I like (frankincense, patchouli, myrrh) make the scent feel way too sweet and heavy for me. Only works in winter.

Delicately smoky, it envelops an earthy-powdery iris that snuggles, slightly myrrh-like, into its old leather jacket. A subtle unisex scent.

Wonderful top note that I would rate a 10. Resinous, warm, soft musk. Sun-warmed Alpine forest.

Very similar to "Bois d'Argent", just a bit spicier in the top notes, but just as soft. However, the delicate Dior veil is missing.

I was looking for a more affordable alternative to Dior's "Bois d'Argent" - and I found it with this scent! Beautiful iris, not too powdery.

Very nice Bois d'Argent with slightly improved longevity, a bit sweeter or more vanilla-like, absolutely successful!

Sensual, elegant. The iris note is simply a dream. For me, the leather and sweetness could be much more subtle. Can take it off again.

Smoky-powdery - I also smell a hint of chamomile. Basically interesting, but too diffuse for me - I wish it had a touch more warmth.
