"We meet in the middle." - Airy bathrobe aura with a profile problem
Perhaps for some, the profile issue is not a problem at all. "Kolonaki" is indeed characterized below as a very everyday, nice spring fragrance.

One cannot really argue against that. "Wallflower" would also be a fitting title that my predecessors use, and without a doubt, that is the case.

All aroma directions have been utilized, fresh mandarin and grapefruit, spicy anise, buttery truffle, all enveloped in a bathtub-clean creaminess with a slightly soapy orientation.

However, all aromas are so restrained, almost whisperingly integrated, that one generally only has a clean, clear, light-footed aura in front of the nose and less of a concrete mood/style statement.

There is virtually no development - those who spray "Kolonaki" receive, in the conservative sense, a reliable fresh bathrobe aura on the skin. Edgeless and somehow also quite profile-less. It doesn’t hurt, gives no reason to get worked up about it. But for me, it’s too smooth, too bare, too delicate - too little A... in the pants.

Greek Flower Meadow
First impression: light freshness, but not from bergamot and nothing citrusy. Almost a bit floral, but not sweet, no creamy vanilla. You quickly notice that the scent is something special, high-quality, old, probably even a bit expensive. Maybe it's a classic, but quite youthful, nothing stale.
It smells very subtly of anise. I believe that’s where the impression of flowers and freshness comes from. As it develops, this anise hint remains. But a spicier layer emerges, a wood-spice mix. My mind says it must smell salty now, because I find an aquatic nuance. But that’s not quite right either. Is there perhaps a hint of cinnamon? Cinnamon and anise, and my mind says: Christmas baking. But there’s no Christmas baking to be found here. I just can’t find a proper direction. No, I can’t find a drawer to put this scent in. It’s fun. I keep sniffing my arm. I’m standing on a high cliff, amidst dark yellow, fragrant flowers, looking out at the vast sea. The image of sun and sea is now in my head and it won’t go away. But that also means to me that this scent is more suited for summer, or for occasions that urgently need a mood lift. Unfortunately, the sillage is not very pronounced. That’s a shame because the scent is so beautiful.
I have no idea what "Kolonaki" means. But it sounds Greek, maybe "little colony." I have never been to Greece. But I can very well imagine this hot, dry summer meadow with dark yellow flowers on a Greek island. Here, the sea is always present, even when you can’t see it.
There are scents that prove that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. Kolonaki is one of them. There are scents that speak their own language, that stand on their own. Kolonaki is one of those for me as well. I just wish for more sillage and longevity. Because Kolonaki speaks its own language, it’s hard to pin down. My image in my head of the hot dry meadow in the Greek sun fits better and better. In the shimmering midday heat, you can only hear the crickets chirping. When the midday heat finally settles over the countryside, even the crickets fall silent. Only the wind can be heard, making its way through the bushes.

As I write these lines, I can’t help but think of my best friend. Her father is Greek. She will surely be able to translate "Kolonaki" for me. She goes to Greece almost every year to visit relatives. Many, many years ago, she took a book that I recommended to her and read it there: "The Grass Harp." She returned, moved by the book and with a photo for me. I now have that photo in my hand: a view of a Greek meadow. The photo has now, after a quarter of a century, acquired a scent.

Kolonaki? Never heard of it, I thought to myself when the sample from Irini, a perfume friend, was sent to me. Thank you very much. What a joy to make this discovery.
P.S.: Thank you, HaraldK! Also, according to my best friend, Kolonaki means "little pillar." And I will receive a new copy of the faded old photo if the negative is found.

Self-Confidence in Italian
For some time now, I have been on a journey of discovery through the Spanish and Italian fragrance world. After learning to appreciate the lightness, quality, and understatement of Old English Colognes, the Italians and Spaniards, with their colognes and authentic scents, represent for me lightness, boldness, and a touch of audacity.
And into the category of audacity, I simply place Kolonaki from the Morph fragrances. Not as a cologne but as an EDP.
I have already had the chance to sniff and extensively test the entire fragrance line. There are some beautiful candidates among them, but this one has made it into my collection at an exorbitant speed.
The information about the top, heart, and base notes is kept to a minimum on the internet and also on the manufacturer's website, so I have to let my own nose speak. And it says: lemons, mandarins, and ripe oranges mixed with a cool breeze of Mediterranean water open with incredible liveliness. However, it is not a citrus-refreshing cologne but a wonderfully deep fragrance introduction that conveys the feeling of, … Hey, you just don’t fit into any box, you are unique ;-)
The fragrance introduction is thus a perfect start to the day. In the transition to the heart note, the fragrance reveals further facets of itself. Soft aquatic notes join in, enriched with gentle spices. Whether it is basil, I cannot say for sure. But this combination brilliantly underscores the audacity of the fragrance introduction; it remains true to its audacity. My nose could not distinctly pick out a base note. But that is not necessary at all. Because what has developed up to this point is simply genius. The freshness, the angularity, the non-conformity… is excellently realized with this fragrance combination.
For my nose, there is something else about this fragrance that I have never experienced before. I have the feeling that every 1.5 hours, the fragrance returns to its opening note. As if the fragrance molecules are releasing another dose of the scent and the fragrance development begins anew. Is there such a thing as a depot effect of fragrances? Regardless of whether it exists or not, the fragrance simply loses none of its character over 8 hours. With which I have actually already said something about its longevity. It is excellent.
The fragrance can actually be worn at any time of the year and day. Also for any occasion, if one can embrace the special and stand by oneself.

Since the fragrance has a distinctly unisex character, I would now be interested in how it develops on a woman's skin…

Nice, but this coarse carpet of sweet-spicy notes is very generic and there are plenty of them around.

Despite the exciting ingredients (truffle, star anise, etc.), it comes across as too average: fresh-spicy mainstream.

Smells like (men's) shower gel on me... Great longevity, fresh, spicy, well-groomed, but not for me.

Another great scent from the brand. Fruity, spicy, resinous, and on my skin it ends up leathery. Lovely!

Kuschelweich Cream-Oud with a hint of jasmine, labdanum, and star anise. Beautiful but a bit too cozy for me outside the 4 walls.
