So much powder!

Finally, I received my sample, and what can I say? I adore this brand for its longevity: there's no equal, maybe Kirke has the same longevity.

But when it comes to this fragrance, I can smell only powder unfortunately. It is described as fruity, floral with sweet almond but I can't find these notes at all. For fans of this powdery fragrance this perfume might actually be quite attractive, but at the end of the day, it started to choke me.

It needs a little time

Tonkatonic is a beautiful gourmand that plays the almond note quite well. In my opinion, however, it needs a little time to truly shine. I find the opening a bit uneven.

The fragrance opens directly with the prominent almond note. Unfortunately, it feels a bit clumsy to me here, and the scent seems unsure whether it wants to lean towards the bitter, dry direction or rather the sweet theme.
In this phase, it also comes across as somewhat unpleasantly synthetic to me.

After Tonkatonic has settled a bit, it first decides to lean a little towards the bitter almond direction (in my perception).
We also have a certain fruity component that is quite nice, although I wouldn't have been able to define it as fig without knowing.
I don't really perceive coconut at all.

Over time, a few floral facets emerge.
Something in the direction of jasmine and orange blossom fits well, that works. The almond now shifts for me towards a sweeter direction. Towards the end, a lovely sandalwood comes in.

I am using this as a replacement for Blanche Bête, since it's 95% similar and I became nose-blind to the former!

To my nose, this is exactly Blanche Bete. It might be slightly stronger, but it smells identical to me.

Phew, it's beautiful!
First, a full blast of almond - coconut and jasmine come through. It's really cozy and snuggly for the day. Very nice!

The scent is lovely, but I have to deduct points for its strong similarity to Blanche Bete, even though the fragrance pyramid is completely different. What a pity.
