Pleasant Chocolate Plum
Star fragrances generally don't fare well here, and QoG is no exception. Sure, the scent is rather pleasing; many describe this type of fragrance as boring. But the constant repetitions run through all price ranges, and it's no different in the expensive mainstream sector, especially when I look at the comments on the new YSL "Black Opium"...
I've now gone through my second bottle of this fragrance, and considering it has only been around since 2013, that says something. I simply like it. It starts sweet with a bit of pear and passion fruit, and the blackcurrant adds a pleasant zest to the scent. Quite quickly, a delicious chocolate note emerges, even though it can be found among the base notes. Dark plum with dark chocolate describes it more accurately. Altogether, it creates a nice gourmand note that doesn't come off as overly sweet and boring to my nose. The fragrance doesn't develop much further; it's quite linear overall. This doesn't bother me; on the contrary. I don't like significant scent developments; I prefer it this way.
One should be cautious with the dosage; 2 sprays are more than enough. The longevity is about 4-5 hours, which is fine by me.
A soft, calm scent that can be worn all year round, except for the few days when it's hot here. This summer, there weren't many...
