A very posh chew

I am slowly working my way through all the Parfum d'Empire. So far, each and every one is well crafted, using quality ingredients, and resulting in rather serious concoctions.

This one however, is a different animal altogether.
It falls within the gourmand family.
It's actually a fun and frivolous creation, very reminiscent of a spicy Tutti Frutti bubblegum, if there were such things.

Very unexpected, but joyful, pleasant, and great for days when life isn't to be taken too seriously.
The result, I feel, is a sweet syrup of plum, with a slight acidic edge, (probably coming from the pomegranate), sprinkled with a light dusting of spices and some smooth vanilla.

Absolutely Delicious :)

very precious perfume in the parfum d'empire collection ,this is a warm spicy and fruity concoction to bite sniff after sniff ,it really impressed me a lot and asap i'll go for a full bottle

An oriental spice market

Aziyadé is very fruity and very spicy. I particularly smell pomegranate, orange, and cinnamon mixed with cumin.

It's a perfume that really gives you the impression of walking through a spice market, the colorful stalls mixed with the fruit ones.

I would have bought it immediately if it hadn't been for that cumin smell that inevitably reminds me of the smell of sweat. It's a shame because it's really beautiful, and if you don't mind the smell of cumin, you'll definitely like it!

I would also have liked something more sensual because Aziyadé is supposed to be a novel heroine (by Pierre Loti), not a spice market...

To finish, I would say that there is indeed a similarity with Féminité du Bois which I prefer because it is more cinnamon oriented and it has this touch of femininity which, for me, makes it more sensual.

Belle entrée

The opening is hard to resist; candied citrus in liquid syrup, and dried fruit and spices beyond.
The problem is, even with a piquant and resiny undertow, Aziyadé doesn't change much. It hangs on to the gourmand thing for so long, the 'sugar and spice and all things nice' starts to get a bit threadbare.

I think that - unlike Angel - Aziyadé doesn't give enough weight to the anti-gourmand side where food-fancies get their interest. Without it, this is a platter of sweetmeats, and less a main dish of substance.

An underrated beauty

One of my first loves, it remains unbeatable in terms of a fruity-smoky-animal effect achieved without florals and oud. Plus a cola vibe!
"Oriental" sans rose, oud, pepper and florals - no florals at all! Its sweetness is very soft and not gourmand to me.
Persistent on clothes.
The scent feels "transparent", projection rather lazy.
To conclude: A hidden gem with a classic vibe.
