Osmanthus tea
Don't be fooled by the delicate character of the osmanthus note. Its complexity is stunning. Fruity, leathery and creamy facets are to be found. On my skin it takes a cristalline, vibrant appearance that reminds me of pink petals, chamomile and occasionally with a buttery aspect.

The green tea note is a perfect companion to the osmanthus. Not a heavy wulong, but a delicate light green tea of the finest leaves, freshly brewed in a traditional Taiwanese manner. There is a slight acidity in the beginning. Not sure if that is a citrus touch or the osmanthus tea itself.

The green tea note fades out after a short while. The osmanthus continues to shine in full glory, with a little support from jasmin and fresh musk. It remains in this delightful state until it all dries down gradually. All in all a lovely spring scent. Pure delight!

Osmanthus et thé inédit
Osmanthus Interdite by Parfum d’Empire is a captivating olfactory masterpiece, both subtle and bold. From the very first spray, the osmanthus makes its presence felt, its fruity peach and apricot nuances blending with the refreshing lightness of tea. The tea note, delicate and invigorating, perfectly balances the floral sweetness of the osmanthus, offering a sense of serenity and refinement.

As it evolves, the fragrance beautifully unfolds, with woody and leathery accents from the immortelle enveloping the osmanthus, adding depth and complexity without ever overpowering its lightness. The result is warm, elegant, and subtle, creating a fragrance that lingers close to the skin in a delicate, intimate manner.

Osmanthus Interdite is not just a floral composition: it’s a perfect balance between the freshness of tea and the richness of osmanthus, all wrapped in a woody structure that lends it great sophistication. A complex fragrance, ideal for those who appreciate delicacy and discreet opulence during hot weather

A lovely osmanthus supported by jasmine and green tea
Osmanthus Interdite is a lovely jasmine and osmanthus scent from Marc-Antoine Corticchiato for his house Parfum d’Empire. This review is based on a sample I got from Jovoy Paris. But I have updated it after I bought a full bottle. China plays a strong marketing anchor for this perfume, as osmanthus is the national flower of China.

Parfum d’Empire and Parfumo list green tea, osmanthus, white musk, jasmine sambac absolute and rose as the main notes. The green tea is prominent in the opening but recedes quickly. The rest of opening is jasmine and osmanthus, though musk and rose also appear as subtle nuances. The presence of green tea tempers the sweetness in the opening to a certain extent. There is not much progression in Osmanthus Interdite on my skin. It continues primarily as jasmine and osmanthus with hints of musk and rose. It is beautiful and airy. I cannot call it delicate because the osmanthus is a strong sweet, honeyed note. Osmanthus absolute from China is reputed to have a leather note, an artifact of storing the flowers long-term in water until the extraction. Parfum d’Empire mentions a suede note in the description, but it is not perceptible to me.

Osmanthus Interdite shows excellent performance on my skin. I can smell the jasmine and osmanthus strongly on my skin even after 8 hours. The sillage is also very good, but it is not intense. It could work as an office perfume in small amounts, as green tea holds back the intense floral notes.

Dior Jasmin des Anges (Francois Demachy) is the obvious competitor to Osmanthus Interdite. Jasmin des Anges is a sweeter perfume, where apricot nectar plays a supporting role to jasmine. Though the osmanthus is more dominant in Osmanthus Interdite, Jasmin des Anges has stronger honey and nectar. So, if you want a clean honey jasmine, go with Dior. If you like a more rounded osmanthus and jasmine, pick Osmanthus Interdite. Cost may also play a role in your decision, as Jasmin des Anges costs twice as much as Osmanthus Interdite ($220 and $150 for 50 ml respectively). Though these perfumes are similar, the opening green tea notes was different enough for me to pick up a full bottle.

Shy Osmanthus
I don't quite understand why I was handed a 10ml sample of this when purchasing another fragrance, especially since this creation from Parfum d'Empire is said to have long since passed away, but now I have a small amount that I can make do with for a while. However, I can understand the intention of the perfume seller: He wants to do something good for me.
And he has succeeded.
At least Osmanthus Interdite comes at just the right time - now, as the world is reorganizing itself, my nose is thirsty for new experiences, the weather has been so nice for weeks that I am developing a fear of the "big end," and I am generally decluttering in a Feng Shui manner, in every respect.
"Strong," selfish scents would be counterproductive right now. I warmly welcome charming, almost Japanese-like fragrances!
But why is the Osmanthus "Interdite" - forbidden? (I shouldn't always try to deduce the scent from the name and vice versa.) In any case, I smell only positives: Green tea, many, many flowers, sometimes spring-fresh, then slightly more sultry, rosy, jasmine-like.
Overall, however, very soft and reserved. Nothing here pricks, nothing is intrusive, a note like paper further enhances my Asian associations; do I also smell rice?
Not creamy, not powdery, but rather refreshing and invigorating, like morning dew.
Young day, what do you bring me?

Forbidden?
Forbidden is best described here by the sillage! Close to the body is fine, but SO close that I have to stick my wrist to my nose just to smell anything is quite an understatement.

Yet Osmanthus Inderdite is so beautiful. It strongly reminds me of Osmanthus from TDC, but offers an interesting variation. Besides Osmanthus - which I perceive as the only floral accord - there is an accord that reminds me of something:

As a child, I often accompanied my grandfather when he mowed the meadows. I loved the scent of the meadow, both before and after mowing. In the early morning, when all the plants had been cut, it smelled pleasantly fresh and green from the grass cuttings. But when the sun shone on the cut plants all day, in the afternoon it smelled soft, warm, and pleasantly sweet - no longer green, but not yet like hay. With all the flowers that a beautiful wild meadow has to offer.

And this soft, warm "almost hay" scent accompanies the Osmanthus for a long, long time.

The surprising thing: despite the truly extreme closeness to the body, Osmanthus Inderdite really has extraordinary longevity. After 9 hours, the same fine, light, slightly hay-like Osmanthus scent was still noticeable on my skin.

Therefore, a plea: dear perfumers of Parfums d'Empire, please give this scent a better sillage. I promise, then I will get it immediately!

Very relaxing, spa-like vibe. Maybe a bit of cashmeran with the tea? The osmanthus doesn’t feel “synthetic” like most interpretations.

Nothing forbidden and nothing censored: very light, bright, fresh osmanthus, jasmine and rose only in the background, gentle musk bed.
