Too Bad
I used to sell AVON a long time ago so I’m familiar with many of their perfumes. Over the recent years I’ve noticed they have been trying to modernize their fragrance selection. Or market it towards the younger crowd. I bought this one thinking it was going to be something completely different and more youthful I guess is the word. The Far Away & Rare lines honestly all smell like old ladies. And I hate to say that because I’ll one day be an old lady but it just smells like what you’d assume your grandmother would wear. They all have this musky note to them but it’s not a sexy or attractive musk. Anyway, so this specific perfume smelt just like that and I had to toss the test strip immediately. I will not be trying anymore from those lines. Other newer lines from AVON are still okay though.

Unfortunately, for some time now, I feel like I smell cheap when I wear it. Too bad!
It's a sweet perfume but not so sweet that it makes you sick. It's for women. My bottle looks different. I've had this perfume for years; I received it as a gift along with other things from a very dear person and that's why I want to finish it. I really liked it in the past. It's very persistent on the skin. The price is good. Unfortunately, for some time now, I feel like I smell cheap when I wear it. Too bad! They could have been more attentive to the quality of the ingredients even if that meant selling it at a higher price. After I finish the bottle, I won't buy another one. I don't know if they changed anything in the ingredients when they changed the bottle. Rating: 7/10

A pleasant, warm scent
A pleasant, warm scent with a hint of glamour that I associate with blackcurrant. It is uncomplicated, easy to wear, and makes a lovely gift for a young woman. It sits closer to the skin than the traditional Far Away, and for me, it performs best when applied gently on fabric, lasting softly overall.

Glamour for Two
My stepmother and her friend Helga were both ardent fans of Luciano Pavarotti.

So they wanted to indulge in his concert in Cologne and took care of getting tickets.
But - oops - one ticket cost 250 DM - not even for the best seats.

The two ladies were not exactly penny pinchers - but they rejected that price on principle.
So they had the clever idea to bring Luciano into their living room.

The ambiance there was also stylish and dignified - and would provide a fitting setting for the concert.

The friends arrived freshly styled and with festive makeup in our private space - of course "in long."

Avon's Far Away Glamour would have suited this intimate event perfectly.

The TV displayed the tenor up close - and the acoustics in the living room were good.
A hint of fruitiness wafted through the room - warmed by orange blossom and rounded off with soft vanilla.
Powdery iris mingled with the powdery makeup - but without becoming too much.
Chic patchouli paired with praline.

The ladies forgot that their star was "far away" - and gave enthusiastic applause.

Great glamour - in a small way.

The Little Black One from Avon
Some of you may still remember the Avon TV commercials. “Ding dong … Your Avon consultant is here.” What treasures did she have in her suitcase? Lipsticks, makeup, creams, nail polish, and of course, fragrances. You could test the range in the comfort of your own home, hoping to buy as much as possible afterwards.

The era of door-to-door sales is long gone, and the nice Avon consultant is now enjoying her well-deserved retirement. However, Avon can now also be purchased online, and I find myself happily indulging in it again and again, probably for nostalgic reasons. This is how Far Away Glamour ended up with me - a little extra to save on shipping costs. I do not regret this spontaneous purchase at all; on the contrary.

FAG starts with a decent dose of pepper, quickly joined by orange blossom. Surprisingly, the fragrance does not veer towards sweetness, as blackcurrant and grapefruit seem to keep the orange blossom in check, even though it clearly dominates the scent.

I cannot detect iris or vanilla at all. I smell neither powder nor vanilla, just orange blossom, which is underlined by a green/bitter note. FAG is clearly dominated by the orange blossom, in a positive way, and this lasts for several hours. Gradually, patchouli joins in with an earthy, enchanting, gentle sweetness, taking more and more of the place of the orange blossom until it completely disappears.

I am more than satisfied with the longevity of at least 8 to 10 hours. However, the patchouli note that forms the base lasts much longer, as I can still perceive it clearly after more than 12 hours, albeit only close to the skin.

Eden has been mentioned here as a fragrance twin, but I cannot agree with that, as FAG is clearly dominated by the orange blossom, which does not stand out in Eden. Cacharel opted for a dense floral bouquet where the individual components are so intricately woven together that I cannot smell any single flower, and the green is much denser as well. FAG is much simpler in construction, and the ingredients are not nearly as diverse, but sometimes less can be more.

FAG is a nice all-rounder for a very tight budget, provided you are not at odds with the orange blossom. However, the black bottle leads one down a completely false path, as the fragrance is neither dark/mystical nor glamorous.

For sweet lovers: Great class! Well-crafted powdery gourmand scent for going out. Strong presence: Dark notes & vanilla-iris!

Well-balanced, the scent starts fruity, followed by the finest flowers wrapped in vanilla, with an exquisite finale of musk, patchouli, and praline! Mmmh

Floral patchouli-vanilla-praline on "Far Away", not a green scent. Thought it would be like Aura, since the original smells like Aura, but no.

It has something of Eden, just more modern. Longevity 9+ hrs. The bottle should have been brighter. It's a daytime scent for me. I already like it a lot.

No similarity to Eden, I have both. Berry start, then O-flower, unsweet base, rather darker scent for cooler days & nights. Top fragrance. Like!
