Basque Gold
I've always liked Paco Rabanne's fragrances. Before I became a perfumista, Métal was a signature scent of mine for years. I have his wonderful La Nuit and Ultraviolet. I bought hubby his really splendid Pour Homme. He bought me Lady Million and, just now, Lady Million Absolutely Gold (a deeper version). Per their website, Paco Rabanne was born in the Spanish Basque country, bordering France. One year I vacationed there on the French side, in the Pyrenees south of Biarritz and fell in love with these fiercely independent people who have preserved their own language and customs. I loved the cheese and the dances and their great hospitality. Paco Rabanne was raised on the French side and you can tell it from the beauty of his perfumes. You can tell he's Basque by his originality. His first clothing collection was called, "12 Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials." I must be a rebel, too, because I've yet to encounter a perfume of his I don't like. This one is a study in orange: neroli, bitter orange, orange blossom. Who does that? Rabanne. [Okay, Armani, Creed, Guerlain, Le Labo, too. Wonder if they got it as right.] And if that's not sultry enough, he's added Jasmine Sambac and made the base throb with Patchouli and Labdanum. The result is an oddly fresh citrusy, indolic, resinous glory that doesn't smell like other scents. I know I'll be wearing this one a lot. Eskerrik asko (thank you), Mr. Rabanne.

With all due respect ...
...I love all ladies - and I cannot agree with their supposedly bad image.

Why do I often read the word "tacky" in this context?

This now derogatory word comes from "proletarian" - the worker - which is an honorable profession.

And I also like the gold nugget - it signals something special.

The Absolutely Lady fits well into my lady collection, as she has style and elegance, even if she appears a bit more "buttoned-up" than her more open-hearted sisters.

The herbaceous cool mix of bitter orange and neroli gives the lady a touch of coolness - but no coldness - she is approachable, yet keeps a cool head.
This lady has earned respect.
But with the warm orange blossom, she shows a soft heart.
The jasmine radiates and patchouli adds depth.

A lady as she is described in books - both in high heels and in rubber boots.

You meet her in the boardroom - but also on her knees working in the garden - which brings us back to the proletariat.

The One True Lady Million
It took a long time for this fragrance to sneak into my heart.

So far, I have accidentally bought various offshoots and dupes of Lady Million. At the time, I didn’t know they were similar scents. I had overlooked Lady Million due to its flashy image and ugly bottle. Silly - I know.
Over time, I grew to like the fragrances more and more. But they all had this artificial honey note that I didn’t like very much. I couldn’t get used to it either.
Then I was glad to have discovered this scent. No honey but labdanum in the pyramid. Honey-like - okay.

So I tried Lady Million Absolutely Gold. It is the perfume version of Lady Million, and you can definitely smell that.
It smells overall stronger and much more noble and distinct than the EDP variant.

The orange blossom and jasmine play the leading roles here. They are quite dominant but not annoying. Patchouli is less strong, and labdanum gives the fragrance a fine, mild, balsamic spiciness. It should smell honey-like. That could be, but then quite natural. I don’t find that artificial honey note that always bothered me in the Eau de Parfum here.
The scent is a balanced interplay of the main players. Sweet neroli and jasmine are harmoniously balanced in Lady Million Absolutely Gold.
For me, the sillage is just right. You can smell the fragrance well with just one spray. If you prefer it stronger and very strong, just spray more often. With the generous bottle size, that’s also quite possible.

The only downside to this fragrance is the cheap-looking bottle with the plastic cap, in my opinion. The packaging is not a gem either. Personally, I don’t care now, as I’m focused on the content here.
The content is very good and worth its price. Especially since the fragrance is currently available at good prices. It was only available in limited edition, and the remaining stocks are now being sold.

It’s a lovely companion in the evening, from which you can still catch whiffs in the morning. The scent lasts the whole night.
I don’t want to commit to a specific season. It works all year round.

More understated than the classic, refined, without raspberry, good longevity. Great for layering with Fame/Intense.

Radiant mix of white flowers and honey, honey, honey. Sweet, opulent, and incredibly potent. In the end, the patch grounds it. Still a little bombshell.
